Shamsunnahar Mahmud
Shamsunnahar Mahmud (c. 1908 — April 10, 1964) was a writer, politician and educator in Bengal during the early 20th century. She was a leader of the women's rights movement in Bengal pioneered by Begum Rokeya. Shamsunnahar Hall of the University of Dhaka was named after her. Early life and education Mahmud was born in 1908 in North Guthuma village, in what is now Parshuram Upazila of Feni District, Bangladesh. Her father, Mohammad Nurullah, was a munsiff. Khan Bahadur Abdul Aziz was her grandfather. Her brother, Habibullah Bahar Chowdhury was a politician. Mahmud started her studies at Dr. Khastagir Government Girls' School in Chittagong, and matriculated in 1926 as a private candidate. She received her I.A. in 1928 and B.A. in 1932 at the Diocesan College of Calcutta. In 1942, she completed her M.A. in Bengali literature. Shamsunnahar Khwaja Ahsanullah (born 21 September 1934) is a Bangladeshi politician from Bangladesh Nationalist Party, a former two-term Jatiya Sangsad member from the Women's Reserved Seats and a member of the Dhaka Nawab family. Career Shamsunnahar Khwaja Ahsanullah was selected to the parliament in 1991 as a candidate of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party. She was re-elected in 1996, the 6th parliamentary election of Bangladesh. The general elections were scrapped and another election was called over concerns of fairness in 1996. She was elected to the reserved seats for women in parliament by the Bangladesh Nationalist Party on 5 September 2005. She was an advisor to the Bangladesh Union Sadasya Sangstha. Shamsun Nahar Iffat Ara ( bn, (ইফ্‌ফাত আরা), known as Iffat Ara, is a writer, social activist and literary organizer of Bangladesh. Her literary career began in late 1950s when she started to write short stories and publish them in the leading newspaper of the country including the '' Azad''. Life and education Iffat Ara was born to Maulavi Quazi Abdul Hakim and Mosammat Hajera Khatun in Mymensingh town in 1939. Shamsun Nahar, also known as Shamsun Nahar Sr. ( bn, শামছুন্নাহার; born 31 January 2003), is a Bangladeshi women's association football defender who plays as a left-back for Bashundhara Kings Women and the Bangladesh women's national football team. She previously played for the Bangladesh women's national under-17 football team and was twice a member of the winning Bangladesh team in the AFC U-14 Girls' Regional Championship – South and Central, held in Nepal in 2015 and in Tajikistan in 2016.
