2022–23 U-17 Youth Cup
The 2022–23 Elite Youth League, also known as 2022–23 Hero U-17 Youth Cup (for sponsorship ties with Hero MotoCorp), was the thirteenth season of the Indian Elite Youth League and the first season of the competition as an under-17 category. The 2019–20 season was abandoned midway and the league was not held since then due to the coronavirus pandemic. Changes in format The new season saw reduction in number of games with a short format spanning over a month. * The tournament would take place across ten venues, with single round-robin format in the group and knockout stage. * The 49 teams from 29 states and union territories were divided in ten groups. Youth League (India)
The Youth League, also known as Hero Youth League for sponsorship reasons, is a system of youth football leagues that are managed, organised and controlled by the All India Football Federation. It consists of 3 age groups competitions: U17 (Elite Youth League), U15 (Junior League) and U13 (Sub-Junior League). History The league was founded as the I-League U19 in 2008 which was to give youth teams of the I-League a national league to play in as at that time the I-League youth teams only played in state youth leagues. Clubs fielded Under-19 teams. 16 teams were split into four groups of four with only one group containing only three teams. At the end of the season the top team from the group stage would move onto the final group stage with the other group winners and play each other once. Mohun Bagan AC (youth)
Mohun Bagan youth teams are the age group football teams of Indian professional multi-sports club Mohun Bagan. The U-21 and the reserve teams are generally referred to as last stage of progression for promotion of youth players into the first squad. The youth teams of various age groups participate in the Calcutta Football League, the Reliance Foundation Development League and the Elite League, also being directly eligible for the I-League 2.
