2022–23 Iraq FA Cup
The 2022–23 Iraq FA Cup is the 33rd edition of the Iraqi knockout football cup as a clubs-only competition, the main domestic cup in Iraqi football, featuring clubs from the top three tiers of the Iraqi football league system (Iraqi Premier League, Iraq Division One and Iraq Division Two). The competition begins on 1 November 2022 with the first round. Iraq FA Cup
The Iraq FA Cup, known as the Iraq Cup ( ar, كأس العراق) in Arabic, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic Iraqi football. First held in the 1948–49 season for clubs and institutions before returning in 1975–76 for clubs only, it is organised by the Iraq Football Association. The tournament begins with several rounds played between lower division clubs, twelve of which advance to the Round of 32, where the Iraqi Premier League clubs are entered. This is followed by the Round of 16, the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final which is played as a single leg in Baghdad. The winners of the competition are awarded a place in the next season's AFC Cup group stage as well as qualifying for the Iraqi Super Cup where they play against the league champions at the start of the following season (or the league runners-up, if the cup winners have won the double). Al-Tijara Sport Club (''Trade SC'', ar, نادي التجارة الرياضي ) is an Iraqi football club based in Baghdad, that plays in Iraq Division Three. History In Premier League Al-Tijara was founded in 1974 as Al-Iktisad as an amalgamation of Ministry of Trade teams, the most prominent of which were the Orosdi-Back team and the Al-Asha team. Al-Iktisad gained promotion to the Iraqi Premier League in 1975. The team played fifteen seasons in the Iraqi Premier League until 1992, first three seasons (1975– 78) from those, played in their old name Al-Iktisad. Naft Al-Shamal Sport Club ( ar, نادي نفط الشمال الرياضي), is an Iraqi football team based in Kirkuk, that plays in the Iraq Division Three. History The original Sharikat Naft Al-Shamal team (Northern Oil Company) was established in 1948, and its name was later changed to Al-Amaliyat Al-Naftiya Al-Mahdouda. Al-Hussein SC (Iraq)
Al-Hussein ( ar, نادي الحسين), is an Iraqi football club based in Baghdad. They were crowned champions of the 2015–16 Iraq Division One which promoted them to the Iraqi Premier League for the first time in their history. History Al-Hussein, named after the Imam of Shia Husayn ibn Ali, were founded in 1999 during the reign of Saddam Hussein. Their first participation in the Iraq FA Cup was in the 2002–03 edition when they were in the third division of Iraqi football; they faced Al-Tharthar in Round 1 on September 2, 2002 and the game ended 0–0 with Al-Hussein being knocked out of the competition via penalty shootout. Al-Difaa Al-Madani Sport Club ( ar, نادي الدفاع المدني الرياضي, lit=''Civil Defense SC''), is an Iraqi football team based in Al-Shaab, Baghdad, that plays in the Iraq Division One and Iraq FA Cup. Al-Najda Sport Club ( ar, نادي النجدة الرياضي), is an Iraqi football team based in Baghdad, that plays in the Iraq Division Two.
