2022 Galway Senior Hurling Championship
The 2022 Galway Senior Hurling Championship was the 125th staging of the Galway Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment in 1887. St Thomas' won their fifth consecutive title in a row after defeating Loughrea in a replay at Pearse Stadium on 27 November. Moycullen participated in the senior championship having beaten Killimor in the 2021 Galway Intermediate Hurling Championship. The competition was sponsored by Brooks for the third of a 3-year partnership that started in 2020. Tynagh-Abbey/Duniry were relegated, losing the relegation playoff to Ahascragh-Fohenagh and will play in the 2023 Galway Intermediate Hurling Championship. The Galway County Boards of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) ( ga, Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Coiste Chontae na Gaillimhe) or Galway GAA are one of the 32 county boards in Ireland; they are responsible for Gaelic games in County Galway, and for the Galway county teams. Sarsfields GAA (Galway)
Sarsfields Galway is a GAA club consisting of the parish of Bullaun, New Inn and Woodlawn in East County Galway, Ireland. Winners of two All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship's. The club was founded in 1966 and is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. And in 2016 Sarsfields Hurling Club celebrated its 50th year. Sarsfields Galway were the first club to defend their All-Ireland Club Hurling title. In 1993 Sarsfields defeated opponents Kilmallock, County Limerick in their first All-Ireland club final. Beagh GAA
Beagh GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located near Shanaglish in south County Galway, Republic of Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with hurling. The club nor cup competes in Galway GAA competitions and fields two teams, Senior and Junior B. In 2008 it amalgamated with neighbouring Kilbacenty at juvenile level forming Michael Cusack's Hurling Club. St. Mary's, Athenry is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in Athenry in County Galway, Ireland. In men's competitions, the club is a dual club competing in both Gaelic football and hurling at various age levels. The club also competes in camogie competitions, and has won several county, province and national titles in the sport. History Athenry GAA club was founded in 1885. Oranmore-Maree GAA
Oranmore-Maree GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the town of Oranmore and surrounding area of Maree, County Galway, Ireland. The club was founded in 1967 and fields teams in both Gaelic football and hurling. The club was formed through a county by-law which ruled that there should be only one team per parish, previous to this Oranmore and Maree had teams. Maree wore green and black jerseys while Oranmore wore Black and Amber. Maree won the Galway Senior Hurling Championship in 1933 beating Castlegar 5-06 to 6-02. Kilconieron GAA
Kilconieron GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Kilconieron, County Galway, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. History Kilconieron was one of the first clubs in County Galway to affiliate with the Central Branch of the Gaelic Athletic Association. The first recorded game involving Kilconieron was against Kiltulla on 29 August 1885. Between 1908 and 1920 Kilconieron went through its must successful period. Seven Galway SHC finals were contested, with victories coming in 1908, 1912 and 1919. A number of barren years followed, with the club facing a shortage of players on some occasions due to emigration. Tommy Larkin's Gaelic Athletic Club is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the Ballinakill and Woodford areas of County Galway, Ireland which competes in the Galway Senior Hurling Championship. History Tommy Larkin's Gaelic Athletic Club was founded in 1968 with the amalgamation of both the Woodford and Ballinakill GAA clubs. Castlegar GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located in the parish of Castlegar in County Galway, Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with the game of hurling. Overview It is believed that hurling has been played in Castlegar since the 1880s. No records exist regarding hurling in the area prior to that decade, however, local folklore has it that the parish had a hurling team prior to 1880. Most of the matches played by Castlegar in those days were played in Claregalway, Turloughmore and Oranmore.
