Beagh GAA
Beagh GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club located near Shanaglish in south County Galway, Republic of Ireland. The club is almost exclusively concerned with hurling. The club nor cup competes in Galway GAA competitions and fields two teams, Senior and Junior B. In 2008 it amalgamated with neighbouring Kilbacenty at juvenile level forming Michael Cusack's Hurling Club. It is founded by Phillip Burns who capatained them to a win in 2009 in the all Ireland mi History Beagh is one of few clubs whose foundation predates the Gaelic Athletic Association; their first recorded game, against Kilbeacanty GAA, Kilbeacanty in 1870, was attended by Michael Cusack (Gaelic Athletic Association), Michael Cusack himself. Shanaglish
Shanaglish is a village in the parish of Beagh in the south of County Galway, Republic of Ireland, Ireland, close to the border with County Clare. The name Shanaglish comes from the Gaelic 'Sean Eaglais', meaning 'old church'. The village was formerly in the parish of St Anne's and there is now a Roman Catholic church dedicated to St Anne. Ardamullivan Castle is located nearby. Notable residents The Irish nationalist brothers, Patrick and Harry Loughnane, farmed in Shanaglish before they were kidnapped and executed by the Auxiliary_Division , Auxiliaries in November 1920. Turloughmore GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the village of Turloughmore, County Galway, Ireland. The club is primarily concerned with the game of hurling. Overview History Hurling had been played in the parish of Lackagh long before the establishment of the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1884. 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 2017 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 130th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1887. The championship began on 23 April 2017 and ended on 3 September 2017. The draw for the championship was held on 13 October 2016 and was broadcast live on RTÉ2. Tipperary, the 2016 champions, were defeated by Galway in the All-Ireland semi-final. Meath fielded a team in the championship for the first time since 2004. On 3 September 2017 Galway won the championship following a 0–26 to 2–17 defeat of Waterford in the All-Ireland final. Adrian Tuohy
Adrian Tuohey (born 14 May 1993) is an Irish hurler who plays as a right corner-back for club side Beagh and at inter-county level with the Galway senior hurling team. Playing career Club Tuohey joined the Beagh club at a young age and played in all grades at juvenile and underage levels before joining the club's top adult team. Inter-county Minor and under-21 Tuohey first played for Galway as a member of the minor hurling team on 23 July 2011. He made his first appearance in an 8-26 to 0-12 All-Ireland quarter-final defeat of Antrim at Parnell Park. On 4 September 2011, Tuohey was at right wing-back in Galway's 1-21 to 1-12 defeat of Dublin in the All-Ireland final at Croke Park. 1980 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship
The 1980 All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship was the 94th staging of the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Championship, the Gaelic Athletic Association's premier inter-county hurling tournament. The draw for the 1980 fixtures took place in September 1979. The championship began on 25 May 1980 and ended on 7 September 1980. Kilkenny were the defending champions but were defeated by Offaly in the Leinster final. Laois re-entered the Leinster Championship, having won the All-Ireland Senior B Hurling Championship the previous year. On 7 September 1980, Galway won the championship following a 2–15 to 3–9 defeat of Limerick in the All-Ireland final. The GAA Hurling All-Ireland Senior Championship, known simply as the All-Ireland Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition in Ireland, and has been contested every year except one since 1887. The final, currently held on the third Sunday in August, is the culmination of a series of games played during July and August, with the winning team receiving the Liam MacCarthy Cup. Finbarr Gantley
Finbarr Gantley (1 September 1950 – 16 July 2021) was an Irish hurler who played for a number of club sides, including St. Gabriel's and Beagh. He also lined out at inter-county level with the Warwickshire, London and Galway senior hurling teams. Career Born near Shanaglish on the County Clare-Galway border, Gantley had an uncle, Paddy Gantley, who had played with the Galway senior hurling team in the 1940s and is regarded as one of their greatest ever players. After emigrating to the UK at the age of 16, Gantley won County Championship titles with the Brothers Pearse and St. Gabriel's clubs. He also lined out with Warwickshire and London, losing five All-Ireland finals across the junior, intermediate and senior B grades. All-Ireland Sevens Hurling
All-Ireland Sevens Hurling competitions are seven-a-side national inter-club hurling tournaments held at senior, intermediate and junior level at the Kilmacud Sevens, Ratoath Sevens and St. Judes Sevens respectively. These competitions are played off in one day annually the day before the All-Ireland Hurling Final - in close proximity to Croke Park as part of the All-Ireland festivities. The Galway Senior Hurling Championship (known for sponsorship reasons as the Brooks Galway Senior Hurling Championship) is an annual hurling competition organised by the Galway County Board of the Gaelic Athletic Association since 1887 for the top hurling teams in the county of Galway in Ireland. The series of games are played during the summer and autumn months with the county final currently being played at Pearse Stadium in November.
