The 2021–22 Philadelphia Flyers season was the 55th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 5, 1967. On March 29, 2022, the Flyers were eliminated from playoff contention, with a 4–1 loss to the Minnesota Wild. The Flyers missed the playoffs for the second year in a row, marking the first time since 1993–94 that the Flyers missed the playoffs in consecutive seasons. Metropolitan Division
The National Hockey League's Metropolitan Division (often referred to simply as the "Metro Division") was formed in 2013 as one of the two divisions in the Eastern Conference (NHL), Eastern Conference as part of a league realignment. It is also a successor of the original Atlantic Division (NHL, 1993–2013), Atlantic Division and one of the two successors to the Southeast Division (NHL), Southeast Division. Six of its teams were previously together in the Patrick Division from 1981 to 1993 (one joined in 1982). Zack MacEwen
Zack MacEwen (born July 8, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey forward for the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played in the NHL for the Vancouver Canucks and the Philadelphia Flyers. Career Junior The Moncton Wildcats of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) noticed MacEwen when he was playing with Amherst, and he began playing with the team during the 2014–15 season, briefly filling in for various skaters who were attending that year's World Junior Championship. After being passed over in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, he rejoined Moncton for the 2015–16 QMJHL season, scoring 10 goals and 30 assists in 66 games. On August 12, 2016, the Wildcats traded MacEwen to the Gatineau Olympiques in exchange for a fifth-round selection in the 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft. 2021–22 Arizona Coyotes Season
The 2021–22 Arizona Coyotes season was the 43rd season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise that was established on June 22, 1979, the 26th season since the franchise relocated from Winnipeg following the 1995–96 NHL season, and the 50th overall season, including the World Hockey Association years. The Coyotes returned to the Central Division for the 2021–22 season. The franchise was previously part of this division from the time of its formation in 1993 (when the team was still based in Manitoba) through to the end of its second season in Arizona in 1998. The modern Winnipeg Jets are also in the Central, thus for the first time that city's original NHL franchise will be in the same division as its current team. The 2021–22 Calgary Flames season was the Flames' 42nd season in Calgary, and the 50th season for the Flames' National Hockey League franchise that was established on June 6, 1972. On April 16, 2022, the Flames clinched a playoff berth after the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Vegas Golden Knights. On April 21, the Flames clinched the Pacific Division after a 4–2 victory over the Dallas Stars. The Flames beat the Stars in seven games in the First Round of the playoffs. The 2021–22 Florida Panthers season was the 29th season for the National Hockey League franchise that was established in 1993. Head coach Joel Quenneville returned to coach his third season with the team. The Panthers began the season 3–0–0 for the second time in team history in as many years. Quenneville resigned from his coaching duties as a result of the fallout from the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks sexual assault scandal on October 28, 2021. Martin Jones (ice Hockey)
Martin Jones (born January 10, 1990) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender who currently plays for the Seattle Kraken of the National Hockey League (NHL). He previously played for the Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks and Philadelphia Flyers. A standout goaltender in junior with the Calgary Hitmen, Jones was named the Western Hockey League's goaltender of the year in 2009–10 and won a silver medal with Team Canada at the 2010 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships. Jones started his professional career in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the Manchester Monarchs and made his NHL debut in 2013, where he spent two seasons with the Kings as backup to Jonathan Quick. The 2021–22 Seattle Kraken season was the inaugural season for the National Hockey League (NHL) franchise. They played their home games at Climate Pledge Arena. The 1993–94 Philadelphia Flyers season was the Flyers' 27th season in the National Hockey League (NHL). For the fifth consecutive season, the Flyers failed to make the playoffs. Off-season Mike Eaves was hired to replace Ken Hitchcock, who left to become the head coach of the Kalamazoo Wings of the International Hockey League, as an assistant coach under new head coach Terry Simpson. Simpson named Kevin Dineen captain and made Eric Lindros an alternate captain to groom him for a leadership role.
