2021 Independence Bowl
The 2021 Independence Bowl was a college football bowl game played on December 18, 2021, and televised on ABC. It was the 45th edition of the Independence Bowl (after the 2020 edition was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic), and was one of the 2021–22 bowl games concluding the 2021 FBS football season. Sponsored by engineering services company Radiance Technologies, the game was officially known as the Radiance Technologies Independence Bowl. With kickoff scheduled for 3:30 p.m. EST (2:30 p.m. local CST), the start of the game was delayed approximately 12 minutes due to local weather conditions. Teams Consistent with conference tie-ins, the game was played between a Conference USA (C-USA) member, UAB, and BYU, an FBS independent. This was the first matchup between UAB and BYU. Independence Stadium (Shreveport)
Independence Stadium is a stadium owned by the city of Shreveport, Louisiana and is the home of the Independence Bowl. Formerly known as State Fair Stadium and Fairgrounds Stadium, it is the site of the annual Independence Bowl post-season college football game, initially (1976 in sports, 1976) the ''Bicentennial Bowl''. Before that, it was the home venue of the Shreveport Steamer of the short-lived World Football League (1974–75). It also served as a neutral site for the annual Arkansas–LSU football rivalry from 1924 to 1936. The 1924 game featured a silver football trophy as part of the dedication ceremonies for the new stadium. The stadium is also host to numerous high school football games and soccer matches, since many schools in Shreveport lack an on-campus facility. Independence Stadium also hosted the Louisiana High School Athletic Association, LHSAA state football championship games in 2005 after the Louisiana Superdome suffered heavy damage from Hurricane Katrina. ...

Baylor Romney
Baylor Romney is a former American football quarterback. He played college football for the BYU Cougars. High school career Romney grew up in a Latter-day Saint colony in Mexico, but moved to El Paso, Texas prior to his freshman year of high school. Romney graduated from Franklin High School in 2015. Recruiting Romney originally committed to Nevada on August 11, 2014, and signed with the team on February 4, 2015. However, after going on an LDS mission to Carlsbad, California, he enrolled at Brigham Young University. Dylan Hopkins
Dylan Hopkins (born October 16, 1999) is an American football quarterback for the New Mexico Lobos. He previously played for the UAB Blazers. Early life and high school Hopkins grew up in Lewisburg, West Virginia along with Maryville, Tennessee and attended Maryville High School. During high school, he helped the team win a state title in 2017 and was the runner-up for Mr. Football in Tennessee. DeWayne McBride (born July 8, 2001) is an American football running back for the Minnesota Vikings of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at UAB, where he was named the 2022 Conference USA Offensive Player of the Year after rushing for over 1,700 yards with 19 touchdowns. The BYU Cougars football team is the college football program representing Brigham Young University (BYU) in Provo, Utah. The Cougars began collegiate football competition in 1922, and have won 23 conference championships and one national championship in 1984.
