2020 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2020 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held on February 4–9, 2020 in Seoul, South Korea. Held annually since 1999, the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. Qualification Age and minimum TES requirements The competition is open to skaters from all non-European member nations of the International Skating Union. The corresponding competition for European skaters is the 2020 European Figure Skating Championships. Skaters are eligible for the 2020 Four Continents Championships if they turned 15 years of age before July 1, 2019 and have met the minimum technical elements score requirements. The ISU accepts scores if they were obtained at senior-level ISU-recognized international competitions at least 21 days before the first official practice day of the championships. ISU Figure Skating Championships
The International Skating Union organizes six annual Championships for figure skating. It is at the discretion of each member country which skaters, pairs or synchronized skating teams are sent to which championship. No skater in men's single skating, women's single skating, pair skating and ice dancing can compete at all four competitions in one season, but some skaters have competed at all four over the course of their careers. Ice Dance
Ice dance (sometimes referred to as ice dancing) is a discipline of figure skating that historically draws from ballroom dancing. It joined the World Figure Skating Championships in 1952, and became a Winter Olympic Games medal sport in 1976. Matilda Friend
Matilda Friend (born 30 August 1999) is an Australian former competitive ice dancer. With her skating partner, William Badaoui, she is the 2016 Australian national champion and represented Australia at five Four Continents Figure Skating Championships. Career Early in her career, Friend skated with Patrick Adderley. They won two Australian junior titles. By the 2014–15 season, Friend had teamed up with William Badaoui. The two debuted on the ISU Junior Grand Prix (JGP) series and won the first of their three junior national titles. In 2015–16, Friend/Badaoui returned to the JGP series and also made their senior international debut at the Open d'Andorra, in November 2015. Kailani Craine (born 13 August 1998) is an Australian former figure skater. She is the 2017 CS Nebelhorn Trophy champion, the 2016 CS Warsaw Cup silver medalist, the 2015 Toruń Cup silver medalist, and a six-time Australian national champion (2014–2019). She represented Australia at the 2018 and 2022 Winter Olympics, finishing 17th and 29th, respectively. Brendan Kerry (born 18 November 1994) is an Australian figure skater. He is the 2017 CS Ondrej Nepela Trophy bronze medalist, the 2017 CS Lombardia Trophy bronze medalist, the 2019 Toruń Cup champion, the 2016 Egna Spring Trophy champion, and an eight-time Australian national champion (2011, 2013–2019). The rhythm dance (RD) is the first segment of an ice dance competition. The short program of figure skating is the first of two segments of competitions, skated before the free skating program. It lasts, for both senior and junior singles and pair skaters, 2 minutes and 40 seconds. In synchronized skating, for both juniors and seniors, the short program lasts 2 minutes and 50 seconds.
