Brendan Kerry
Brendan Kerry (born 18 November 1994) is an Australian figure skater. He is the 2017 CS Ondrej Nepela Trophy bronze medalist, the 2017 CS Lombardia Trophy bronze medalist, the 2019 Toruń Cup champion, the 2016 Egna Spring Trophy champion, and an eight-time Australian national champion (2011, 2013–2019). Kerry has competed in the final segment at fifteen ISU Championships, achieving his highest placement, sixth, at the 2022 Four Continents. He placed 29th at the 2014 Winter Olympics, 20th at the 2018 Winter Olympics and 17th at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Personal life Brendan Kerry was born 18 November 1994 in Sydney. His mother, Monica MacDonald, competed in ice dancing at the 1988 Winter Olympics, and his sister, Chantelle Kerry is also a figure skater. Abigail Kerry, a former ladies' singles competitor, now competes in ice dance. Kerry attended Epping Boys High School before transferring to Sydney Distance Education High School to focus on skating. Figure skating at the 2014 Winter Olympics was held at the Iceberg Skating Palace in Sochi, Russia. The five events took place between 6–22 February 2014. For the first time at the Winter Olympics, a figure skating team event was held. 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 18–23, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Held annually since 1999 (except 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Although the event was designed for non-European skaters, the International Skating Union asked the Estonian Skating Union, the host of the 2022 European Championships, to host the Four Continents Championships in the same venue after no non-European ISU members applied to host following the Chinese Skating Association's withdrawal. ISU Figure Skating Championships
The International Skating Union organizes six annual Championships for figure skating. It is at the discretion of each member country which skaters, pairs or synchronized skating teams are sent to which championship. No skater in men's single skating, women's single skating, pair skating and ice dancing can compete at all four competitions in one season, but some skaters have competed at all four over the course of their careers. The Australian Figure Skating Championships is a figure skating competition held annually to crown the national champions of Australia. It is organized by Ice Skating Australia, the nation's figure skating governing body. Egna Spring Trophy
The Egna Spring Trophy, formerly the Gardena Spring Trophy (through 2016), is an annual international figure skating competition. It is held every spring in Val Gardena in Italy. Medals are awarded in men's and ladies' singles and sometimes in other disciplines. Since its inception in 1990, the event has included a junior-level competition. Advanced novice categories were added in 2006 and senior categories in 2011. An ice dance competition, the Egna Dance Trophy, was first held in February 2018. Figure Skater
Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. The Olympic disciplines are men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance; the four individual disciplines are also combined into a team event, first included in the Winter Olympics in 2014. The non-Olympic disciplines include synchronized skating, Theater on Ice, and four skating.
