2019–20 Latvian–Estonian Basketball League
The 2019–20 Latvian–Estonian Basketball League, known as Paf Latvian–Estonian Basketball League for sponsorship reasons, was the 2nd season of the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League, the combined top basketball division of Latvia and Estonia. On 12 March 2020, the league was suspended until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Eventually, the league was not resumed and no champions were named. Competition format The competition format follows the usual double round-robin format. During the course of the regular season, which lasts from 27 September 2019 to 22 March 2020, all the teams play each other twice, once at home and once away, for a total of 28 games. Teams are ranked by total points, with the eight highest-ranked teams advancing to the quarter-finals. Unlike the previous season, in this season the quarterfinal series will be played to two wins. BC Valga-Valka
BC Valga-Valka, also known as BC Valga-Valka/Maks & Moorits for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball club representing the twin towns of Valga, Estonia and Valka, Latvia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Valga Sports Hall. From 2015 to 2018 the team uniquely competed in both Estonian and Latvian domestic top leagues. History Valga Korvpallikool (Valga Basketball School) was founded in 2001. In 2006, the team won the third tier II Liiga and was promoted to the top tier Korvpalli Meistriliiga (KML). Valga finished the 2006–07 regular season in eighth place and advanced to the playoffs, where they were defeated in the quarterfinals by eventual champions University of Tartu, losing the series 0–2. Jūrmala
Jūrmala (; "seaside") is a state city in Latvia, about west of Riga. Jūrmala is a resort town stretching and sandwiched between the Gulf of Riga and the Lielupe River. It has a stretch of white-sand beach, and a population of 49,325 in 2019, making it the fifth-largest city in Latvia. Rapla
Rapla (German: ''Rappel'') is a town in central Estonia, the capital of Rapla County and the centre of Rapla Parish. The oldest records date back to 1241 in the Danish Census Book, when it was said that it was a small village with 8 acres of cultivated fields. By the end of the 13th century, the village centre was firmly established. At around the same time, a Cistercian monastery was built. Rapla's ambitious period of fast growth began only in the late 19th century. In 1866, a pharmacy was built, in 1868 a school, and in 1888 a hospital. In 1898, a Brick factory was opened, and in 1900, a railway line was built between Rapla and Viljandi. The old stone church was demolished in the late 19th century and a new one was built in a Romanesque style, one of the purest examples of this style in all of Estonia. BC Rakvere Tarvas is a professional basketball club based in Rakvere, Estonia. The team plays in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League. Their home arena is the Rakvere Sports Hall. Tarvas was relegated to the third Estonian division in 2017. On 19 June 2019, BC Rakvere Tarvas was again promoted to the Estonian-Latvian top tier league (Latvian–Estonian Basketball League). Valmiera Glass Vidzemes Augstskola (Valmiera Glass ViA, also stylized Valmiera Glass/ViA) is a basketball club based in Valmiera, Latvia, playing in the Latvian–Estonian Basketball League.
