2019–20 LEB Plata Season
The 2019–20 LEB Plata season was the 20th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 21 September 2019 with the first round of the regular season and was curtailed on 25 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format changes On 8 June 2019, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed to expand the promotion playoffs to eight teams, being these from the second to the ninth qualified of the Group A1 of the second stage and the winner of the Group A2. In addition, every team must have always playing at least one Spanish player. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) A total of 24 teams contested the league, including 15 sides from the 2018–19 season, three relegated from the 2018–19 LEB Oro and six promoted from the 2018–19 Liga EBA. LEB Plata
The LEB Plata is the third basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system and the second basketball division organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation. Since 2019, three teams are promoted to LEB Oro and six teams are relegated to Liga EBA. Club Baloncesto Ciudad de Ponferrada, also known as Cat&Rest Clínica Ponferrada CDP by sponsorship reasons, is a professional basketball team based in Ponferrada, Castilla y León that currently plays in LEB Plata. History CB Ciudad de Ponferrada was founded in 2002 with the aim to replace the former team JT, that ceased in activity. Club Bàsquet Pardinyes, also known as Ilerdauto Nissan Pardinyes Lleida by sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in the neighbourhood of Pardinyes in Lleida, Catalonia, that currently plays in LEB Plata. Club Bàsquet Prat is a basketball team based in El Prat de Llobregat, Catalonia (Spain). The team currently plays in league LEB Oro. History Basketball arrived to El Prat de Llobregat in 1932 with the constitution of the ''Esplai Grupo 49'' in the Federation of Young Christians of Catalonia. Araberri Basket Club, also known as Sáenz Horeca Araberri for sponsorship reasons, is a basketball team based in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. History Founded in 1994. In June 2011, the team promoted to LEB Plata, where it won one Copa LEB Plata and promoted to LEB Oro as winner of the playoffs in 2016. Club Polideportivo La Roda, also known as JAFEP Fundación Globalcaja La Roda for sponsorship reasons, is the basketball team of the Spanish namesake multi-sports club based in La Roda, Albacete.
