CP La Roda
Club Polideportivo La Roda, also known as JAFEP Fundación Globalcaja La Roda for sponsorship reasons, is the basketball team of the Spanish namesake multi-sports club based in La Roda, Albacete. It currently plays in LEB Plata. History In the 1980s, CP La Roda reached for the first time the fourth tier, where it remained during four years before declining. The club came back years later and started in the Provincial League, coming back finally to Tercera División, fourth tier, in 1989. Four years later, La Roda achieved the promotion to Segunda División, where it played continuously until 2002 (the league changed its name to Primera División in 1999) when the club was relegated to Primera Autonómica. One year later, it came back to Primera División for playing during 12 years before promoting to Liga EBA. The LEB Plata is the third basketball division of the Spanish basketball league system and the second basketball division organized by the Spanish Basketball Federation. 2018–19 LEB Plata Season
The 2018–19 LEB Plata season was the 19th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 6 October 2018 with the first round of the regular season and ended on 25 May 2019 with the promotion playoffs. Format changes On 2 June 2018, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed some changes in the competition format: *The competition will be expanded to 24 teams, divided into two groups of twelve by economical and geographical criteria. COVID-19 Pandemic In Spain
The COVID-19 pandemic in Spain has resulted in confirmed cases of COVID-19 and deaths. The virus was first confirmed to have spread to Spain on 31 January 2020, when a German tourist tested positive for SARS-CoV-2 in La Gomera, Canary Islands. Post-hoc genetic analysis has shown that at least 15 strains of the virus had been imported, and community transmission began by mid-February. The 2019–20 LEB Plata season was the 20th season of the Spanish basketball third league. It started on 21 September 2019 with the first round of the regular season and was curtailed on 25 May 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Format changes On 8 June 2019, the General Assembly of the Spanish Basketball Federation agreed to expand the promotion playoffs to eight teams, being these from the second to the ninth qualified of the Group A1 of the second stage and the winner of the Group A2. In addition, every team must have always playing at least one Spanish player. Real Canoe Natación Club is the basketball team of this club based in Madrid, Spain. The section was founded in 1940. The men's team played in the top division of Spanish basketball from 1957 to 1965, but nowadays plays in LEB Oro. The women's team was Liga Femenina champion three times, but now plays in Liga Femenina 2.
