2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup
The 2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 28th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The tournament took place from 15 to 17 February 2019. The tournament was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at the Carioca Arena 1. Format The tournament was held under a Final Four format, played by four teams, and included a third-place game. Teams The tournament was contested by four teams. The NBA opted to send the G League champions, rather than send the NBA champions. Venue When the event was announced, it was also announced that the game would be played at the Carioca Arena 1, the home arena of the tournament's host club, Flamengo. Carioca Arena 1 is located in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The arena was opened in 2016, and it has a seating capacity of 6,000 people for basketball games. 2017 FIBA Intercontinental Cup
The 2017 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 27th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. The cup winner was decided through one game, which was held on September 24, 2017. It was contested by the 2017 FIBA Americas League champions, Guaros de Lara, and the 2017 FIBA Champions League champions, Iberostar Tenerife. The title game was held at the Santiago Martín, in San Cristóbal de La Laguna. Champions of the EuroLeague were not allowed to participate by FIBA, due to the EuroLeague's dispute with FIBA. Iberostar Tenerife won the game, and captured its first FIBA Intercontinental Cup title. Mike Tobey was named the FIBA Intercontinental Cup Most Valuable Player. The 2014 FIBA Intercontinental Cup was the 24th edition of the FIBA Intercontinental Cup for men's professional basketball clubs and the 23rd edition of the tournament being in the form of a true intercontinental tournament for clubs. Franco Nicolás Balbi (born August 21, 1989), is an Argentinian professional basketball player who currently plays with Boca Juniors in the Liga Nacional de Básquet. Malcolm Xavier Griffin (born August 10, 1991) is an American professional basketball player who last played for SLAC of the Basketball Africa League (BAL).
