Dušan Šakota
Dušan Šakota ( sr-cyr, Душан Шакота, el, Ντούσαν Σάκοτα ''Ntousan Sakota'', born 22 April 1986) is a Serbian-Greek former professional basketball player. He is 6'10 " (2.10 m) tall. He is a power forward, who possesses the height of a center, and the shooting ability of a shooting guard. He has won two triple crowns in his career. He was the team captain of AEK Athens of the Greek Basket League for five seasons, and with the club, he won the 2018 FIBA Champions League title, the 2018 Greek Cup title, and the 2019 FIBA Intercontinental Cup title. Early years Šakota was born in Belgrade, SFR Yugoslavia (now Serbia), but he moved with his family to Greece, at the age of four, when his father, Dragan Šakota, was given the head coaching job with the Greek League club PAOK. FIBA Champions League
The Basketball Champions League (BCL) is an annual professional basketball competition for European clubs, organised by FIBA. It is the top-level competition organised by FIBA Europe, therefore the champion participates in the FIBA Intercontinental Cup. 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship
The 2003 FIBA Under-19 World Championship (Greek: 2003 Παγκόσμιο Πρωτάθλημα FIBA Under-19) was the 7th edition of the FIBA U19 World Championship. The men's U19 youth international basketball championship organized by FIBA. It was held in the Greek city of Thessaloniki from 10 to 20 July 2003. Australia won the tournament beating Lithuania 126–92 in the final. Andrew Bogut was named the tournament MVP. The FIBA Under-19 Basketball World Cup (formerly FIBA Under-19 World Championship) is the under-19 men's world basketball championship organised by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA). 2017–18 Greek Basketball Cup
The 2017–18 Greek Basketball Cup was the 43rd edition of Greece's top-tier level professional national domestic basketball cup competition. The previous winners of the cup were Panathinaikos Superfoods. The cup competition started on 13 September 2017, and ended 17 February 2018. AEK won the competition. Format The top six placed teams from the top-tier level Greek Basket League 2016–17 season, gained an automatic bye to the 2017–18 Greek Cup quarterfinals. The Greek Basketball Cup or Hellenic Basketball Cup (Greek language, Greek: Κύπελλο Ελλάδος καλαθοσφαίρισης ανδρών) is the top-tier level annual pro basketball national cup competition in Greece. It is organized by the Hellenic Basketball Federation, Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). History and format There were no official nation-wide Greek Cup competitions prior to the 1975–76 season. The 2003–04 Greek Basket League season was the 64th season of the Greek Basket League, the highest tier professional basketball league in Greece. It was also the 12th season of Greek Basket League championship that was regulated by HEBA (ESAKE). The winner of the league was Panathinaikos, which beat Maroussi in the league's playoff's finals series. The Greek Basket League (GBL), often also referred to as the Greek A1 Basketball League, or Greek Basketball Championship (originally called Panhellenic Basketball Championship), and also known as the Stoiximan Basket League for sponsorship reasons, is the first tier level professional basketball league in Greece. It is run by HEBA ( el, ΕΣΑΚΕ, link=no), under the legal authority of the Hellenic Basketball Federation (E.O.K.). It is the highest-tier level of the Greek league system. The GBL plays under FIBA rules and currently consists of 13 teams, with the lowest-placed team relegated to the A2 Basket League and replaced by the winner of the play-offs of that tier. It runs from October to June, with teams playing 22 games each during the regular season, and the top 8 teams then competing in the playoffs. The 2017–18 Basketball Champions League was the second season of the Basketball Champions League (BCL), a European-wide professional basketball competition for clubs, that was launched by FIBA. The competition began on 19 September 2017, with the qualifying rounds, and concluded on 6 May 2018. The Final Four, which was held 4–6 May, was hosted at the Olympic Indoor Hall in Athens, Greece.
