2019 Copa Colombia
The 2019 Copa Colombia, officially the 2019 Copa Águila for sponsorship reasons, was the 17th edition of the Copa Colombia, the national cup competition for clubs of DIMAYOR. The tournament was contested by 36 teams, beginning on 13 February and ending on 6 November, with Independiente Medellín winning their second title by defeating Deportivo Cali in the finals by a 4–3 aggregate score and qualifying for the 2020 Copa Libertadores. Atlético Nacional were the defending champions, but were knocked out of the competition by Deportes Tolima in the quarterfinals. Format This year the competition featured the return of the group stage, after being played under a single-elimination format in its entirety in the previous edition. Jaguares de Córdoba is a professional Colombian football team based in Montería, that plays in the Categoría Primera A. They play their home games at the Jaraguay stadium. History The team was created on December 5, 2012 at a meeting held by team president Nelson Soto Duque, the mayor of Montería, and the governor of Córdoba. In an initiative led by the Montería city hall and the Córdoba government, with support from local companies, an agreement was reached with the direction to move Sucre F.C. from Sincelejo to Montería from 2013 under the name Jaguares de Córdoba. Millonarios was initially created in 1937 by students from the Colegio Mayor de San Bartolomé. Patriotas Boyacá, also known as Patriotas, is a professional Colombian football team based in Tunja, that currently plays in the Categoría Primera B. They play their home games at the La Independencia stadium. History Patriotas was founded in 2003 by the then-governor of Boyacá Miguel Ángel Bermúdez, together with the then Coldeportes chairman and the owners of hardware business G&J.
