2017 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship
The 2017 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship was the 16th edition of the Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship, the biennial international men's field hockey championship of Europe organised by the EHF. It was held from 19 to 27 August 2017 in the Wagener Stadium in Amstelveen, Netherlands. The tournament also served as a qualifier for the 2018 Men's Hockey World Cup, with the winner qualifying. The hosts and defending champions the Netherlands won their fifth overall title by defeating Belgium 4–2 in the final, while England captured third place by beating Germany 4–2. Amstelveen
Amstelveen () is a municipality in the province of North Holland, Netherlands with a population of 92.353 as of 2022. It is a suburban part of the Amsterdam metropolitan area. Diego Arana
Diego Arana Antoñanzas (born 12 September 1988) is a Spanish field hockey player who plays as a forward for Jolaseta and the Spanish national team. Club career Arana played in Spain for Jolaseta and Club de Campo until 2014, when he moved to Belgium to play for Braxgata. In the 2015–16 season he helped them claim their first-ever play-off place in the Men's Belgian Hockey League. After two seasons in Belgium he returned to Spain to play for Tenis. Bob De Voogd
Bob de Voogd (; born 16 September 1988) is a Dutch field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Belgian club Braxgata HC, Braxgata. He was included to the national team in 2009 and won a silver medal at the 2012 Olympics, placing fourth in 2016. Club career De Voogd started playing hockey at his local hockey club HMHC in Helmond. After the club merged with another Helmond club he started playing for the newly formed club, HC Helmond. Mink Van Der Weerden
Mink Alphons Louis van der Weerden (; born 19 October 1988) is a Dutch field hockey player who plays as a defender for German Bundesliga club Rot-Weiss Köln. He started playing hockey at HCAS and has since also played for Oranje Zwart and Oranje-Rood. He joined Rot-Weiss Köln in the summer of 2020. Van der Weerden made his debut for the national team in 2010 and has since played in three Olympic Games, two World Cups and three European Championships. He studies physiotherapy. Valentin Verga (born 7 October 1989) is an Argentine-born Dutch field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for Amsterdam. Club career Verga has played his whole senior career for Amsterdam. In the Dutch winter break in 2017, he was the first Dutch player to play in the Malaysia Hockey League, he played for Terengganu. Severiano "Seve" Boris van Ass (born 10 April 1992) is a Dutch field hockey player who plays as a midfielder or forward for HGC and the Dutch national team. Thomas Briels (born 23 August 1987) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a forward for Dutch Hoofdklasse club Oranje-Rood. He played a total of 359 times for the Belgium national team from 2006 until 2021. Club career Briels started playing at Dragons when he was around five years old. Loïck Fanny Luypaert (born 19 August 1991) is a Belgian field hockey player who plays as a defender for Braxgata and the Belgian national team. He combines his sports career with an educational program of Movement Science at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. Club career Luypaert started playing hockey at Braxgata.
