2015 Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The 2015 Pan-American Volleyball Cup was the fourteenth edition of the annual women's volleyball tournament, played by twelve countries over June, 2014 in Lima and Callao, Peru. The competition served as a qualifier for the 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix. The United States won their fourth championship defeating 3–0 to the Dominican Republic and the American Krista Vansant won the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Competing nations Qualification for FIVB Grand Prix The top two teams from the NORCECA confederation and the top from CSV will play first group from the 2016 FIVB World Grand Prix. The third, fourth and fifth ranked teams from NORCECA and the second best ranked from CSV will play the second group. The third ranked from CSV and the sixth from NORCECA will take part in the third group. Krista Vansant (born March 31, 1993) is a volleyball player and coach who played collegiately for Washington Huskies women's volleyball, Washington. In 2022, she was named as the assistant coach for the Illinois Fighting Illini women's volleyball, University of Illinois volleyball team after spending 3 seasons as an assistant coach at Indiana University Bloomington, Indiana. Early life Vansant was born in Whittier, California, east of Los Angeles, to Tricia and Robert Vansant and grew up in Redlands, California. Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup
The Women's Pan-American Volleyball Cup is a Continental Cup organized by NORCECA with teams from all over America ( North-, South- and Central America, and the Caribbean), that served as a qualifier for the World Grand Prix. The tournament also granted places for the Final Four Women's Volleyball Cup. Now, the event serves as an America qualifier for the Pan American Games classification. The men have their own equivalent of the tournament, the Men's Pan-American Cup. Volleyball
Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team's court under organized rules. It has been a part of the official program of the Summer Olympic Games since Tokyo 1964. Beach volleyball was introduced to the programme at the Atlanta 1996. The adapted version of volleyball at the Summer Paralympic Games is sitting volleyball. The complete set of rules is extensive, but play essentially proceeds as follows: a player on one of the teams begins a 'rally' by serving the ball (tossing or releasing it and then hitting it with a hand or arm), from behind the back boundary line of the court, over the net, and into the receiving team's court. 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix
The 2016 FIVB Volleyball World Grand Prix was the 24th edition of the annual women's international volleyball tournament played by 28 teams from 3 June to 10 July 2016. The Group 1 final round was held in Bangkok, Thailand. Brazil captured their record eleventh title in the tournament after a 3–2 win over defending champions United States. In the bronze medal match, The Netherlands prevailed in five sets over Russia. Natália Pereira was elected the most valuable player. In the Group 2 finals held in Varna, Bulgaria, Dominican Republic defeated Poland in five sets and earned a promotion to Group 1 for the 2017 season. Carli Ellen Lloyd (born August 6, 1989) is an American professional volleyball player who played as a setter for the United States women's national volleyball team. She played college women's volleyball at the University of California, Berkeley. Lloyd won bronze with the national team at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games. María Ángela Leyva Tagle (born November 22, 1996, in Lima, Peru) is a peruvian volleyball player who plays for the Peru national team. At the age of 14 she had already been in all categories of Peru's national team, Child (U16), Youth (U18), Junior (U20) and Senior. Leyva was captain of the team that won gold at the 2012 Youth South American Championship, the first gold medal for Peruvian volleyball in that category after 32 years and the first gold in any category in 19 years.
