2015 British National Track Championships
The 2015 British National Track Championships were a series of track cycling competitions held from 25–27 September 2015 at the Manchester Velodrome. They are organised and sanctioned by British Cycling, and were open to British cyclists. Competition Separate competitions will be held for both men and women, and 6 events are also included for paracyclists Open to British cyclists, the winners of each event are entitled to wear the national champion's jersey - a white jersey with a red, white and blue front stripe - for the next year when competing in that discipline. Philip Hindes Order of the British Empire, MBE (born 22 September 1992) is a British Track cycling, track cyclist, specialising in Sprint (cycling), sprints. He holds dual nationality, having been born in Germany to a United Kingdom, British father. Having initially competed for Germany at a junior level, in 2010 he switched to the British Cycling programme. Peter Mitchell (cyclist)
Peter Mitchell (born 12 January 1990 in London, England) is an English track cyclist, specialising in the individual and team sprints. In 2009, he was named in the Team Sky+ HD track cycling team alongside names such as Chris Hoy and Victoria Pendelton. In November 2012 it was announced that Mitchell was joining the British paralympic cycling squad as a pilot for the tandem events. Mitchell teamed up with Paralympic gold medallist and multiple world champion Neil Fachie for the 2013 British National Track Championships, where they were second in both the kilo time trial and the 200-metre flying start time trial for mixed blind/visually impaired competitors. In addition he scored a solo second place in the sprint, being defeated in the final by Jason Kenny. Fachie and Mitchell continued their partnership for the 2014 UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Team Sprint
The team sprint (also sometimes known as the Olympic sprint) is a track cycling event. Despite its name, it is not a conventional cycling sprint event – it is a three-rider team time trial held over three laps of a velodrome. The current men's world record time is 41.225 seconds. This was set by the Netherlands team of Jeffrey Hoogland, Harrie Lavreysen and Roy van den Berg at the 2020 World Championships. Thomas Rotherham (24 August 1423 – 29 May 1500), also known as Thomas (Scot) de Rotherham, was an English cleric and statesman. He served as bishop of several dioceses, most notably as Archbishop of York and, on two occasions as Lord Chancellor. He is considered a venerable figure in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, his town of birth. Life Background Thomas Rotherham was born 24 August 1423 in Rotherham, Yorkshire. He is said to have been the eldest son of Sir Thomas Rotherham of Rotherham by his wife, Dame Alice. From the sixteenth century onwards he was also known by the alternate surname 'Scot', although that surname was not used by Rotherham himself or by his contemporaries. – literally "racing cycle" – is a form of motor-paced cycle racing in which track cyclists sprint for victory following a speed-controlled start behind a motorized or non-motorized pacer. It was developed in Japan around 1948 for gambling purposes and became an official event at the 2000 Olympics in Sydney, Australia. Riders use brakeless fixed-gear bicycles. Races are typically long: 6 laps on a track, 4 laps on a track, or 4 laps on a track. Matthew Rotherham (born 1994) is a British male track cyclist. Following a career as an elite abled bodied cyclist, he transferred to Paralympic track cycling as a sighted pilot in the visually impaired (B) classification. In 2021, he piloted Neil Fachie to Paralympic gold in the men's track time trial B classification. The pair are also Commonwealth Games champions in 2018, and five-time World champions in the discipline. The sprint or match sprint is a track cycling event involving between two and four riders, though it is usually run as a one-on-one match race between opponents who, unlike in the individual pursuit, start next to each other. Men's sprint has been an Olympic event at every games except 1904 (which had races at seven different distances) and 1912 (which had no track cycling events). Women's sprints have been contested at every Olympics since 1988. Racing style Depending on the size of the velodrome, this event can be from 250 m to 1000 m.
