2010–11 Sheffield United F.C. Season
The 2010–11 season was Sheffield United's fourth consecutive season in the Football League Championship after coming 8th in the 2009–10 season. It was Kevin Blackwell's third season in charge of United; however, he left Bramall Lane in mid-August after losing at home to QPR. Gary Speed was named as his successor but lasted only until December when he left to take over the Wales national side. Following a short spell as caretaker by John Carver, Micky Adams was appointed manager for the rest of the season. It was a turbulent season off the pitch and results declined, with Adams being unable to save the team from relegation to League One for the first time in 23 years. Sheffield United F
Sheffield is a city in South Yorkshire, England, whose name derives from the River Sheaf which runs through it. The city serves as the administrative centre of the City of Sheffield. It is historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire and some of its southern suburbs were transferred from Derbyshire to the city council. It is the largest settlement in South Yorkshire. Chris Morgan (footballer)
Christopher Paul Morgan (born 9 November 1977) is an English former professional footballer and football coach. An "uncompromising" defender, he scored 24 goals in 491 league and cup appearances in a 16-year career in English football. He began his career at Barnsley, making his debut for the club in the Premier League in January 1998. Barnsley were relegated at the end of the season, and he would stay on at the club to make a total of 212 league and cup appearances across six seasons, scoring eight goals. He signed with Sheffield United in July 2003 and was soon appointed club captain. He was named as the club's Player of the Year in 2004 and helped the club to secure promotion out of the Championship in 2005–06, though United's stay in the Premier League lasted only one season. Scotland National Under-21 Football Team
The Scotland national under-21 football team, controlled by the Scottish Football Association, is Scotland's national under 21 football team and is considered to be a feeder team for the Scotland national football team. As a European under-21 team, Scotland compete in the UEFA European Under-21 Championship, which is usually held every other year. The team has qualified for the final stages of these Championships on six occasions, although not since 1996. There is no global tournament for under-21 national teams. Nick Montgomery
Nicholas Anthony Montgomery (born 28 October 1981) is a football coach and former player, who is currently the head coach of Scottish Premiership club Hibernian. A defensive midfielder, Montgomery spent the majority of his career with Sheffield United, making 398 appearances across twelve seasons. Towards the end of his time in England, he had a short spell on loan with Millwall. In 2012, he moved to Australia to play for Central Coast Mariners, and became club captain in 2015. After leaving the Mariners in 2017, he went on to play for Wollongong Wolves for two seasons. Born in England, Montgomery represented Scotland at under-21 level and as part of a Scotland 'Futures' side. He obtained Australian citizenship in 2017. Elliott Whitehouse
Elliott Mark Whitehouse (born 27 October 1993) is an English professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for National League North side Spennymoor Town, on loan from Scunthorpe United. Whitehouse is a product of Sheffield United's academy and had loan spells with York City and Alfreton Town before being released in 2014. He joined Notts County and after a loan spell with Nuneaton Town was released in 2015. He had a short spell with FC Halifax Town before joining Nuneaton Town permanently. In 2016, Whitehouse joined Lincoln City, helping them to promotion to League Two and scoring the only goal in the 2018 EFL Trophy Final. Steven Preben Arthur Simonsen (born 3 April 1979) is an English footballer who played as a goalkeeper. Born in South Shields, Tyne and Wear, he started his senior career at Tranmere Rovers before spells with Everton, Stoke City and Sheffield United, Preston North End and Scottish sides Dundee and Rangers. John Carver (footballer)
John William Carver (born 16 January 1965) is an English association football coach and former player. At Newcastle United, he held assistant coaching roles under Bobby Robson and Alan Pardew, and was the interim manager following Pardew's departure. Away from Newcastle, he was also assistant coach to Kevin Blackwell at Leeds United and Luton Town, as well as at Plymouth Argyle under Paul Mariner. As manager, he took charge of Toronto FC from 2008 to 2009 and Omonoia Nicosia from 2016 to 2017. Playing career Carver was born in Newcastle upon Tyne, and was raised in Cruddas Park.
