2009–10 EHF Women's Champions League
The 2009–10 EHF Women's Champions League was the 17th edition of the EHF Women's Champions League, a handball competition for top women's clubs of Europe managed by the European Handball Federation. It was won by Danish club Viborg HK who defeated Romanian CS Oltchim Râmnicu Vâlcea at the finals with an aggregate score of 60–52. It was the third title for Viborg and the sixth for a Danish team. Place distribution A total of 30 teams participated in the 2009/10 Champions League, from 22 EHF federations. EHF Women's Champions League
The Women's EHF Champions League is the competition for the top women's handball clubs in Europe, organised annually by the European Handball Federation (EHF). It is the most prestigious tournament for clubs, with the champions of Europe's top national leagues participating. Tournament structure Each year, the EHF publishes a ranking list of its member federations. The first 27 nations are allowed to participate in the tournament with their national champion. The national federations are allowed to request extra places or upgrades from the EHF Cup. The EHF Champions League is divided into five stages. Depending on the ranking of their national federation and of the criteria list, teams can enter the competition in either qualification or the group phase. The EHF Women's Champions League 2008/09 was the 16th edition of the EHF Women's Champions League, a team handball, handball competition for top women's clubs of Europe managed by the European Handball Federation. Zvezda Zvenigorod (russian: Звезда Звенигород, lit. ''Star Zvenigorod'') is a Russian women's handball club from Zvenigorod, near Moscow. They won the Champions League and the Champions Trophy in 2008, and the EHF Cup in 2006/07. Between 2006 and 2011 the club was coached by Russian national team trainer Evgeny Trefilov. In the summer of 2011 he was replaced by head coach Zdravko Zovko. In reaction to the 2022 Russian invasion of Ukraine, the International Handball Federation banned Russian athletes, and the European Handball Federation suspended the Russian clubs from competing in European handball competitions. Ferencvárosi TC (women's Handball)
Ferencvárosi Torna Club is a Hungarian women's handball team from Budapest, that is part of the multi-sports club Ferencvárosi TC. Nicknamed ''Fradi'', the team plays in the Nemzeti Bajnokság I, the top level championship in Hungary. They are one of the most successful clubs in the country, having won eleven Hungarian championships and as many Hungarian cup titles. ŽRK Budućnost is a women's handball team from Podgorica, Montenegro (previously, the club also appeared under the names ZRK Buducnost MONET, Buducnost Brillant and Buducnost Titograd). Among the numerous titles, Budućnost is two-times winner of EHF Women's Champions League The club was founded on February 13, 1949, and played its first official game in 1950. Larvik Håndballklubb, is a women's handball club from Larvik, Norway. History Larvik HK was founded in 1990 as a merger of the handball departments in the two clubs Larvik Turn and Halsen. They played in the top division since 1992/93. During their first year they were close to relegation, but managed to remain on top. Rukometni Klub Podravka Koprivnica is a Croatian women's handball club from Koprivnica. It is the most successful club in Croatian women's handball since formation of the league in 1992. The team currently competes in the Croatia women's first handball league. They have a fan club called Red Roosters formed in 2002.
