2007 Solheim Cup
The 2007 Solheim Cup was the tenth Solheim Cup, held 14–16 September at Halmstad GK in Halmstad, Sweden. It was a three-day contest for professional female golfers, pitting the 12 best players born in the United States against the 12 best players born in Europe. The U.S. team won the competition, 16 to 12, to retain the Solheim Cup. Format The Solheim Cup is a match play event, as opposed to the more common stroke play format. A total of 28 points are available, divided among four periods of team play, followed by one period of singles play. The first period, on Friday morning, consists of four rounds of foursomes. This is followed in the afternoon by four rounds of four-ball. This schedule is repeated on Saturday morning and afternoon. The four periods on Friday and Saturday account for 16 points. Halmstad GK
Halmstad Golf Club (Halmstad Golfklubb; Halmstad GK) is a golf club located in Tylösand, Halmstad Municipality in Sweden. It has hosted the 2007 Solheim Cup and the Chrysler Open on the Ladies European Tour and most recently Scandinavian Mixed. History The club was formed in 1930 and the first 18-hole course was approved by the Swedish Golf Federation in 1938, and it hosted its first Swedish Matchplay Championship already in 1939. In 1967, 9 new holes were constructed, which together with the last 9 holes of the old course formed the new North Course. In 1975 the final 9 holes were built, forming the South Course together with the original first 9 holes. Claiming a home among the towering pines and seaside lands of Sweden's golfing playground, the championship North Course is repeatedly ranked as one of the best golf courses in the country. Gwladys Nocera (born 22 May 1975) is a French professional golfer. She currently resides in Biarritz, France. Amateur career Nocera was born in Moulins, Allier. She had a successful amateur career.
