2005 World Figure Skating Championships
The 2005 World Figure Skating Championships were held at the Luzhniki Sports Palace in Moscow, Russia from March 14 to 20. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The 2005 Worlds was the primary means of deciding the number of entries each country would have to the Olympics. Free Skating
The free skating segment of figure skating, also called the free skate and the long program, is the second of two segments of competitions, skated after the short program. Its duration, across all disciplines, is four minutes for senior skaters and teams, and three and one-half minutes for junior skaters and teams. Vocal music with lyrics is allowed for all disciplines since the 2014—2015 season. Kristoffer Berntsson
Johan Kristoffer Berntsson (born 13 July 1982) is a Swedish former competitive figure skater. He is an eight-time (2000–2001, 2004–2005, 2007–2010) Swedish national champion and the five-time (2002–2005, 2007) Nordic Champion. Berntsson was the first Swede to land a triple Axel. Career Berntsson began skating at age 5. Though he started out doing both hockey and figure skating, he soon focused exclusively on the latter. Berntsson won the Swedish junior national champion in 1996–1997, a title he would go on to win the next two season as well. He skated on the international junior circuit starting in 1998–1999. In the 1999–2000 season, still skating primarily as a junior, Berntsson won the national title and made his senior debut at the European Championships, finishing 21st. Ivan Dinev
Ivan Dinev ( bg, Иван Динев; born November 8, 1978) is a Bulgarian former competitive figure skater. He is a three-time Grand Prix medalist, an 11-time Bulgarian national champion, and competed at three Olympics. Career In the 1997–98 season, Dinev won two gold medals on the ISU Junior Series and qualified for the Final where he took the silver medal. He competed at his first Olympics in 1998, finishing 11th. At the 1999 World Championships, Dinev became the first Bulgarian skater to land a quadruple toe loop in competition. He won bronze at the 1999 Trophée Lalique, becoming the first skater from his country to medal at a Grand Prix event. At the 2000 Sparkassen Cup, Dinev's blade broke during a warmup before the free skate; he bought a replacement of a different brand and finished 5th. Stefan Lindemann
Stefan Lindemann (born 30 September 1980) is a German retired figure skater. He is the 2004 World bronze medalist, 2005 European bronze medalist, 2000 World Junior champion, and a seven-time (2000, 2002, 2004–2007, 2010) German national champion. Career Stefan Lindeman started skating at age 4 in Erfurt at the local skating club. At age 12 he wanted to play ice hockey, but his mother kept him in figure skating. His coach was Ilona Schindler. After finishing his school he was sponsored by the Bundeswehr (German Army). Andrei Vladimirovich Griazev (russian: Андрей Владимирович Грязев; born 26 July 1985) is a Russian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2005 Cup of China and 2007 Cup of Russia bronze medalist, 2004 World Junior champion, and 2007 Russian national champion. Personal life Griazev was born 26 July 1985 in Perm, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union. Career Griazev began skating at the age of four. At the age of 11, he moved from Perm to Saint Petersburg to train with coach Alexei Mishin. He trained at the Yubileyny Sports Palace. Timothy Goebel
Timothy Richard Goebel (born September 10, 1980) is an American former competitive figure skater. He is the 2002 Winter Olympic Games, 2002 Olympic bronze medalist. He was the first person to land a Quadruple jump, quadruple salchow jump in competition and the first person to land three quadruple jumps in one program. Frédéric Dambier
Frédéric Dambier (born 26 December 1977) is a French figure skater. He is a four-time French national silver medalist and competed at two Olympic Games. He twice placed fourth at the European Figure Skating Championships. He is the first French skater to land a quadruple salchow in competition. Career Dambier started skating when he was about six or seven years old when a neighbor took him to the small ice rink of Joué les Tours. In practice, he landed his first triple jump, the salchow, at 14, and his first quad salchow when he was 19. Kevin van der Perren (born 6 August 1982) is a Belgian former competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 & 2009 European bronze medalist, a three-time Grand Prix medalist, and an eight-time (2000–2004, 2007, 2011, 2012) Belgian national champion. Emanuel Sandhu (born November 18, 1980) is a Canadian figure skater and dancer. He is the 2004 Grand Prix Final champion and a three-time Canadian national champion. Personal life Sandhu was born on November 18, 1980 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He was raised in Richmond Hill, Ontario with his younger brothers Chris and Daniel. Brian Joubert (; born 20 September 1984) is a French figure skating coach and former competitor. He is the 2007 World champion, a three-time (2004, 2007 & 2009) European champion, and the 2006–07 Grand Prix Final champion. Li Chengjiang (; born April 28, 1979) is a Chinese former competitive figure skater. He is the 2001 Four Continents champion, the 2004 Grand Prix Final bronze medalist, and a six-time Chinese national champion.
