2nd Armoured Brigade (France)
The 2nd Armoured Brigade (french: 2 Brigade Blindée, 2 BB) is an armoured brigade of the French Army. It is heir to the honours and traditions of the 2nd Armoured Division famously commanded by Philippe Leclerc de Hauteclocque. In 1970 the 2nd Armoured Brigade at Saint-Germain-en-Laye was part of the 8th Armoured Division, headquartered at Compiègne, alongside two mechanised brigades. In 1977 the 2nd Armoured Brigade appears to have been disbanded, and the 2nd Armoured Division reformed. The reorganisation of the French Army in 1999 transformed and downsized the 2nd Armoured Division to the 2nd Armoured Brigade. From 1999 to 2010 the brigade headquarters was located in the ''quartier Bellecombe'' in Orléans. The AMX-30 AuF1 is a French self-propelled gun vehicle currently in use by the armies of France and Saudi Arabia. It replaced the former Mk F3 155mm in French Army service. 92nd Infantry Regiment (France)
The 92nd Infantry Regiment is a unit of the French Army. Tracing its descent from a unit of Irish troops in French service established in 1661, it received its regimental number in 1790. Since 1881 the unit has been garrisoned at Clermont-Ferrand in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes. The regiment fought at the battles of Verdun and the Somme in the First World War and in the Battle of France in 1940. The unit was revived in 1944 as a unit of the Maquis. In recent years it has served on Opération Chammal in Iraq and on Operation Barkhane in Chad and Mali. The Véhicule Blindé de Combat d'Infanterie (English: ''Armoured Infantry Fighting Vehicle'') or VBCI is a French Infantry fighting vehicle designed and manufactured by GIAT Industries (now Nexter Systems) and Renault Trucks Defense to replace the AMX-10P. The first units entered active service with the French Army in 2008. 630 units were ordered and full delivery was completed in 2018. Spain and the UK have notably shown interest in acquiring the vehicle but ultimately opted for domestic options instead. The VBCI is built on an aluminium hull which carries a modular THD steel and titanium armour that can be replaced in the field. The 8x8 wheeled design was chosen to make the VBCI more comfortable, less costly as well as easier to maintain on war theaters than a tracked vehicle would be, while giving it sufficient mobility to complement the Leclerc tank.
