2024–25 Persian Gulf Pro League
The 2024–25 Persian Gulf Pro League (formerly known as Iran Pro League) will be the 42nd season of Iran's Football League and 24th as Persian Gulf Pro League since its establishment in 2001. Teams Promotion and relegation (pre-season) A total of sixteen teams contest the league, including fourteen sides from the 2023–24 season and two promoted from the 2023–24 Azadegan League. This includes the two top teams from the Azadegan League. Persian Gulf Pro League
The Persian Gulf Pro League ( fa, لیگ برتر خلیج فارس, ''Lig-e Bartar-e Xalij-e Fârs''), formerly known as the Iran Pro League ( fa, links=no, لیگ برتر ایران, ''Lig-e bartar-e Irân''), is the highest division of professional football in Iran. It is the top-level football league in Iran since its foundation. Each year, its top team becomes the Iranian football champion, and the two lowest finishers are relegated to Azadegan League. Since 2013, the league comprises 16 teams. The winner and runner-up of the Persian Gulf Pro League along with the Hazfi Cup champion are automatically qualified for the AFC Champions League group stages. Foolad F
Foolad Khuzestan Football Club ( fa, باشگاه فوتبال فولاد خوزستان, ''Bāshgāh-e Futbāl-e Fulād-e Khuzestān'') is an Iranian football club, based in Ahwaz, Khuzestan that plays in Persian Gulf Pro League. Foolad F.C. was founded in 1971 and is owned by Foolad Khuzestan Company. The club has won Iran Pro League twice, including a championship in the lower division, Azadegan League. In the 2004–05 season, Foolad became the champion of the fourth newly founded Iran Pro League (IPL), gaining a total of 64 points over 30 league matches that is the highest point for a leader since 2001. Foolad Arena
Foolad Arena ( fa, فولاد آرنا, ''Fulâd Ârena'') is a newly built stadium in Ahvaz, which was opened on 13 November 2018. It hosts the home matches of Foolad since March 2019. The stadium was planned to be completed by November 2013, which was changed to middle of 2018 due to financial problems. The competition for the project was won by Kowsar Company's design. The stadium is being built on the location of Foolad's corporate housings, Divistdastgah Town and next to 5,000 capacity Foolad Khuzestan Stadium which is used by the club's academy, Foolad Novin. Design It will seat 30,655 people for football matches and up to 35,000 people for other events. The Takhti Stadium of Ahvaz () is a multi-purpose stadium in Ahvaz, Iran. It is currently used mostly for Association football, football and Rugby football, rugby matches. The stadium is able to hold 15,000 people. It is currently home venue of Esteghlal Ahvaz F.C., Esteghlal Ahvaz. History The stadium was built in 1978, there have been many disputes as to the name of Takhti Stadium. The argument being that it would have been prevalent to have named the stadium after talented players produced by Ahvaz itself. Ahvaz ( fa, اهواز, Ahvâz ) is a city in the southwest of Iran and the capital of Khuzestan province. Ahvaz's population is about 1,300,000 and its built-up area with the nearby town of Sheybani is home to 1,136,989 inhabitants. The Shahid Nassiri Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Yazd, Iran. It is part of the much larger Shahid Nassiri Sports Complex. It is used mostly for football matches. However, during football's lull in popularity in the mid-1990s, it was discussed whether the National Afghan Buzkashi League (in-exile from the Taliban) should be allowed to train on the field. Arak ( fa, اراک, ''Arâk''; ) is the capital of Markazi Province, Iran. At the 2011 census, its population was 526,182, in 160,761 families. The city is nicknamed the "Industrial Capital of Iran".
