2024–25 I Liga
The 2024–25 I liga (also known as Betclic I liga for sponsorship reasons) is the 77th season of the second tier domestic division in the Polish football league system since its establishment in 1949 and the 17th season of the Polish I liga under its current title. The league is operated by the PZPN. Season overview The season will start on 19 July 2024 and go into the winter break after the 19th matchday on 9 December. With the 20th matchday, the season will continue on 14 February 2025. The final 34th matchday is scheduled for 25 May 2025. The regular season is being played as a round-robin tournament. A total of 18 teams participate, 12 of which competed in the league campaign during the previous season, while three to be relegated from the 2023–24 Ekstraklasa and the remaining three to be promoted from the 2023–24 II liga. I liga ( pl, Pierwsza liga, ), currently named Fortuna I liga due to its sponsorship by Fortuna, is the men's second professional association football division of the Polish football league system, below the Ekstraklasa and above the II liga via promotion/relegation systems. Run by the Polish Football Association (PZPN) since its inception on 30 May 1948. The league was renamed from Second League (II liga) to First League (I liga) in 2008. The league is operated by the Polish Football Association. The league is contested by 18 teams. The regular season is played in a round-robin tournament. The season will start in July 2024 and will conclude in May 2025 (regular season). From this season onwards, promotion/relegation play-offs will be played, with teams placed 13th and 14th facing two second-placed teams from the III liga. Odra Opole
Odra Opole () is a football club based in Opole, Poland, currently playing in the I liga. History Beginnings The history of Odra Opole began on 16 June 1945, when in the Opole Town Hall, a group of sports officials gathered to form a new Polish sports organisation. Under first chairman, lawyer Leonard Olejnik, Odra organised first post-WWII sports competition in the city: street running (July 1945). In 1948, Odra merged with Lwowianka Opole and Chrobry Groszowice, and in 1948–1958, the club was called Budowlani Opole. By 1950, Budowlani had several departments, including football, track and field, tennis, boxing, ice hockey and volleyball. In 1951, managed by Mieczysław Bieniek, Budowlani won promotion to the second tier of Polish football system. Miedź Legnica is a Polish professional football club, based in Legnica, Poland, that competes in the Polish Ekstraklasa. Miedź was founded in 1971. The club's manager is Wojciech Łobodziński. Górniczy Klub Sportowy Górnik Łęczna, commonly referred to as Górnik Łęczna, is a sports club based in Łęczna, Poland. It is best known for its men's professional football team, which competes in I liga, the second division in the Polish football league system. GKS Tychy is a Polish professional football club, based in Tychy, Poland, that plays in the Polish I Liga. The club was founded on 20 April 1971. It played in the Ekstraklasa between 1974–1977.
