The 2024 North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships was a regional track and field competition held in San Salvador, El Salvador, from June 7-9, 2024. It was the fifth edition of a senior track and field championship for the NACAC region, held two years after the 2022 NACAC Championships. The event helps to qualify for the Athletics at the 2024 Summer Olympics competition, which will be held in Paris, France. The 2022 North American, Central American and Caribbean Championships were a regional track and field competition held at Grand Bahama Sports Complex in Freeport, Bahamas, from August 19–21, 2022. It was the fourth edition of a senior track and field championship for the NACAC region, held four years after the 2018 NACAC Championships. Medal summary Men Women *Rules state a country can only win two medals per event. In both the women's 5000 metres and 3000 metres steeplechase, the United States swept the event, however the bronze medals went to the fourth placed athletes. North America, Central America And Caribbean Athletic Association
The North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletic Association (NACAC) is the continental confederation governing body of athletics for national governing bodies and multi-national federations within Northern America, Central America, and the Caribbean. NACAC is one of six area associations of World Athletics (WA), previously named the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF). NACAC was founded on December 10, 1988, in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Presidents Amadeo Francis of Puerto Rico was elected as the first president of the association. He was re-elected in 1999 and 2003. This article details the qualifying phase for athletics at the 2024 Summer Olympics. More than 1,800 athletes, with an equal split between men and women, will compete across forty-eight medal events (twenty-five in track, five in the road: marathon and racewalking, sixteen in the field, and two in combined) at the Games. The qualification window for the marathon races will occur from 1 November 2022 to 30 April 2024; for the 10,000 metres, combined events (heptathlon and decathlon), racewalks, and relays from 31 December 2022 to 30 June 2024; and for the remaining events on the program lineup from 1 July 2023 to 30 June 2024.
