Association Sportive de Saint-Étienne Loire (), commonly known as A.S.S.E. () or simply Saint-Étienne, is a professional football club based in Saint-Étienne in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France. The club was founded in 1933 and competes in Ligue 2, the second division of French football, in the 2022–23 season. Saint-Étienne plays its home matches at the Stade Geoffroy-Guichard. Saint-Étienne have won a joint-record of ten Ligue 1 titles, as well as six Coupe de France titles, a Coupe de la Ligue title and five Trophée des Champions. Saint-Étienne has also won the Ligue 2 championship on three occasions. The club achieved most of its honours in the 1960s and 1970s when the club was led by managers Jean Snella, Albert Batteux, and Robert Herbin. Nathanaël Mbuku (born 16 March 2002) is a French professional footballer who plays as a forward for German club Augsburg. Club career Reims On 23 November 2018, Mbuku signed his first professional contract with Stade de Reims for three years. He made his professional debut with Reims in a 2–0 Ligue 1 win over Olympique de Marseille on 10 August 2019. He scored his first goal in Ligue 1 in a 4–0 win against Montpellier on 25 October 2020, from an "acrobatic kick". His teammate Boulaye Dia also scored from a penalty after Mbuku was fouled. Buduka Dylan Batubinsika (born 15 February 1996) is a professional footballer who plays as a centre-back for Ligue 2 club Saint-Étienne. Born in France, he plays for the DR Congo national team. Mathieu Cafaro (born 25 March 1997) is a French professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for club Saint-Étienne. Club career Toulouse Cafaro is a youth exponent from Toulouse. He made his Ligue 1 debut on 10 September 2015 against Bastia. He was released from the club on 3 April 2017 with Odsonne Édouard due to inappropriate behavior outside the club which consisted of shooting a passer-by with an airsoft gun. He later admitted that he was the one that shot the gun. Football Club Lorient Bretagne Sud (; commonly referred to FC Lorient or simply Lorient) is a French association football club based in Lorient, Brittany.
