2023 Zaragoza City Council Election
The 2023 Zaragoza City Council election, also the 2023 Zaragoza municipal election, was held on Sunday, 28 May 2023, to elect the 12th City Council of the Municipalities of Spain, municipality of Zaragoza. All 31 seats in the City Council were up for election. The election was held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve Autonomous communities of Spain, autonomous communities and 2023 Spanish local elections, local elections all throughout Spain. The Green Alliance ( es, Alianza Verde; AV) is a Spanish ecologist and eco-socialist political party, ideologically located to the left. Closed List
Closed list describes the variant of party-list systems where voters can effectively only vote for political parties as a whole; thus they have no influence on the party-supplied order in which party candidates are elected. If voters had some influence, that would be called an open list. Closed list systems are still commonly used in party-list proportional representation, and most mixed electoral systems also use closed lists in their party list component. D'Hondt Method
The D'Hondt method, also called the Jefferson method or the greatest divisors method, is a method for allocating seats in parliaments among federal states, or in party-list proportional representation systems. It belongs to the class of highest-averages methods. The method was first described in 1792 by future U.S. president Thomas Jefferson. It was re-invented independently in 1878 by Belgian mathematician Victor D'Hondt, which is the reason for its two different names. Motivation Proportional representation systems aim to allocate seats to parties approximately in proportion to the number of votes received. 2023 Spanish Local Elections
The 2023 Spanish local elections were held on Sunday, 28 May 2023, to elect all 67,031 councillors in the municipalities of Spain and all 1,038 seats in 38 provincial deputations. The elections were held simultaneously with regional elections in twelve autonomous communities, as well as local elections in the three foral deputations of the Basque Country, the four island councils in the Balearic Islands and the seven island cabildos in the Canary Islands. Jorge Antonio Azcón Navarro (born 21 November 1973) is a Spanish People's Party (PP) politician who is a city councillor (2000–2007; 2011–) and the mayor (2019–) of Zaragoza.
