2023 World Wushu Championships
The 2023 World Wushu Championships was the 16th edition of the World Wushu Championships. It was held at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, Texas, United States, from November 16 to 20, 2023. Development and preparation Selection process During the 2019 World Wushu Championships in Shanghai, China, the 15th IWUF Congress met to vote on the host city for the 16th WWC. At the conclusion of the competition, it was announced that the next edition of the world championships would be held in 2021 in Dallas, Texas, United States. This would mark the first time a major international wushu competition was held in the United States since the 1995 World Wushu Championships. The competition will be organized by the United States of America Wushu Kungfu Federation (USAWKF) under Anthony Goh. Fort Worth Convention Center
The Fort Worth Convention Center (formerly known as the Tarrant County Convention Center) is a convention center and indoor arena located in Sundance Square in Fort Worth, Texas. The complex opened on September 30, 1968, and was expanded in 1983, 2002 and 2003. Background The complex was proposed by county officials in 1961 as a competitor to the Dallas Convention Center and approved in 1967. Over 14 city blocks (previously known as " Hell's Half Acre") were demolished to make way for the new facility that opened in 1968. The building is noted for the indoor arena, resembling a flying saucer. In 1997 the City of Fort Worth purchased the facilities and properties, changing the complex's name to the Fort Worth Convention Center. World Junior Wushu Championships
The World Junior Wushu Championships (WJWC) is an international wushu competition organized by the International Wushu Federation (IWUF) for competitors below 18 years of age. There are three age groups for the Taolu events and there is also a Sanda category. Editions Source: * 2020 in Rabat, Morocco was cancelled. Medals (2014 - 2022) History Taolu Group A has existed since the first rendition of the championships. The age group was originally 16-18 but changed to 15-17 as a result of a vote in 2019. From 2006 to 2012, Group A athletes were required to compete using the IWUF second set of compulsory routines. In 2014 and 2016, this was changed to the IWUF third set of compulsory routines. In early 2018, Group A were allowed to do optional routines instead of compulsory routines, and would be judged without the Degree of Difficulty requirement. Seraf Naro Siregar
Seraf Naro Siregar (born September 17, 2001) is a professional wushu taolu athlete from Indonesia. Career Senior Siregar's international debut was at the 2019 World Wushu Championships where he won a gold medal in duilian with Edgar Xavier Marvelo and Harris Horatius. They repeated this victory shortly thereafter at the 2019 SEA Games. After the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Siregar's first major competition was the 2021 SEA Games (hosted in 2022) where he won a gold medal in daoshu and gunshu combined along with a bronze medal in changquan. A year later at the 2023 SEA Games, he won a bronze medal in men's daoshu and gunshu combined. Siregar then achieved the same result in the same event at the 2022 Asian Games a few months later. Wong Weng Son
Wong Weng Son, also known as Vincent Wong (; born September 9, 1992) is a wushu taolu athlete from Malaysia. He is one of Malaysia's most renowned wushu athletes of all time and is a two-time world champion. Career Early career Wong began practicing wushu at the age of ten when his father took him to wushu classes. Wong's father is also a lion dancer and so Wong practiced it before pursuing wushu more seriously. Competitive career: 2013-present Wong's international debut was at the 2013 Southeast Asian Games in Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar, where he won a silver medal in men's duilian. Two years later, he competed at the 2015 World Wushu Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he was a triple medalist. Changquan
Chángquán () refers to a family of external (as opposed to internal) martial arts (kung fu) styles from northern China. The forms of the Long Fist style emphasize fully extended kicks and striking techniques, and by appearance would be considered a long-range fighting system. In some Long Fist styles the motto is that "the best defense is a strong offense," in which case the practitioner launches a preemptive attack so aggressive that the opponent doesn't have the opportunity to attack. The Texas Longhorn is an American list of cattle breeds, breed of beef cattle, characterized by its long horns, which can span more than from tip to tip.
