The 2023 Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu European Championship, officially called the 2023 European Jiu-Jitsu IBJFF Championship, was an international jiu-jitsu tournament organised in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJFF). It was held between 23 and 29 January 2023 in Paris, France. Location Paris was selected as the host city for the first time as the European championship was held in Lisbon, Portugal until 2019 and in Rome in 2022. European Championship (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu)
The European Championship or European Open (officially called the European IBJJF Jiu-Jitsu Championship) is the most prestigious and largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Europe by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (IBJJF). The tournament is an open championship accepting competitors from all countries. The IBJJF gives tournaments weighting which helps calculate the number of points an athlete can win via their participation. For the 2017/2018 IBJJF calendar the European Championship has a weighting of 4 alongside the Pan-American Championship (jiu-jitsu) making it second in importance only to the World Jiu-Jitsu Championship which has a weighting of 7. From 2004 the championship was held near Lisbon, Portugal, in 2022 it was moved to Rome, Italy after skipping 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Mayssa Bastos (born 23 October 1997) is a Brazilian submission grappler and black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor. Bastos has won almost every single major jiu-jitsu tournaments in both Gi and No-Gi. She is the current roosterweight World Champion, World No-Gi Champion, Pan American Champion and the light-featherweight European Champion. The Pan Jiu-Jitsu Championship or Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Pan American Championship (commonly known as Pan Ams or Pans), is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in North America. The event is held annually by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. History Representing one of the first steps toward internationalisation of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, the Pan-American Championship has been held annually since 1995. While the first event garnered only 250 athletes, the event has grown every year with the 2022 edition in Florida reporting over 4,600 jiu-jitsu athletes registered to compete. Asian Open Championship (Brazilian Jiu-jitsu)
The Asian Championship is the largest Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu tournament held in Asia by the International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation. History The Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship has been held since 2006 with the first tournament taking place in Tokyo, Japan. In 2008, the championship moved to Bangkok, Thailand, its 2010 third edition was held in Amman, Jordan. The fourth edition was held on the 15th & 16 July 2012 in Doha, Qatar. Gracie Barra
Gracie Barra is a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu association with over 800 schools on six continents. The organization was founded by Carlos Gracie, Jr. History Carlos Gracie Jr., who was born in 1956, grew up heavily influenced by his family, especially his father Carlos Gracie Sr. and his brother Rolls Gracie. Maria Malyjasiak
Maria Malyjasiak is a Polish Judoka, submission grappler and Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) black belt competitor. A former Poland National Judo Team and Poland National Grappling Team member, Malyjasiak is a BJJ black belt Pan-American (gi and no-gi) Champion, European Open Champion and a World IBJJF and ADCC Submission Fighting World Championship medallist. Elisabeth Clay Moreira is an American submission grappler, Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner and competitor. Clay won multiple World and Pan championships titles ( Gi and No-Gi) throughout her colored belts as well as the ADCC West Coat Trials when just a 16-year-old blue belt. Luiza Monteiro (born 23 November 1988) is a Brazilian Grappling, submission grappler and 2nd degree black belt Brazilian jiu-jitsu competitor.
