2023 Boise State Broncos Football Team
The 2023 Boise State Broncos football team represented Boise State University as a member of the Mountain West Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. Led by third-year head coach Andy Avalos, the Broncos played their home games on campus at Albertsons Stadium in Boise, Idaho. On November 12, with Boise State sitting 5–5 (4–2 in Mountain West play), Avalos was fired with two games remaining in the regular season. Defensive Coordinator Spencer Danielson was named interim head coach for the remainder of the season. Avalos finished 22–14 (17–6 conference) in just shy of three full seasons. Mountain West Conference
The Mountain West Conference (MW) is one of the collegiate athletic conferences affiliated with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) (formerly I-A). The MW officially began operations on January 4, 1999. Geographically, the MW covers a broad expanse of the Western United States, with member schools located in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming. Craig Thompson has served as Commissioner of the MW since October 15, 1998; Gloria Nevarez will take over the post on January 1, 2023 after Thompson's retirement. Two human polls and a committee's selections comprise the 2023 National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) football rankings, in addition to various publications' preseason polls. Unlike most sports, college football's governing body, the NCAA, does not bestow a national championship at the FBS level. Instead, that title is bestowed by one or more different polling agencies. The 2023 San Diego State Aztecs football team represented San Diego State University as a member of the Mountain West Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. They were led by head coach Brady Hoke, who coached his sixth season with the team. The Aztecs played their home games at Snapdragon Stadium in San Diego. The 2023 UCF Knights football team represented the University of Central Florida (UCF) as a member of the Big 12 Conference during the 2023 NCAA Division I FBS football season. The Knights were led by Gus Malzahn in his third year as the Knights head coach. The team played their home games at FBC Mortgage Stadium in Orlando, Florida.
