2023 Australian Swimming Trials
The 2023 Australian Swimming Trials are scheduled to be held from 13 to 18 June 2023 at the Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre in Melbourne, Victoria to determine Australia's swimming team for the 2023 World Aquatics Championships in Fukuoka, Japan. A host of Dolphins will miss the event and World Championship selection due to injury, including 2020 Olympian Chelsea Hodges who has required surgery to repair torn cartilage in her right hip. William Yang will also miss the event after undergoing surgery to remove a benign tumour in his spinal canal. Breaststroker Jenna Strauch is another withdrawal from the event having not overcome a knee injury, while Zac Incerti will not compete after having commenced a shoulder rehabilitation program. Ben Armbruster was a late withdrawal from the meet with a rib injury. On the final day of the event, Swimming Australia selected a 38-person team. Cameron McEvoy (born 13 May 1994) is an Australian competitive swimmer who represented his country at the 2012 Summer Olympics, 2016 Summer Olympics and 2020 Summer Olympics. Career Junior At the 2011 World Junior Championships in Lima, Peru, McEvoy won gold medals in the 50 m and 100 m freestyle, and a bronze in the 200 m freestyle. Nick Sloman
Nicholas Sloman (born 30 October 1997) is an Australian open water swimmer. He is a six-time medalist at FINA Marathon Swim World Series, winning a gold medal and a silver medal at the 2019 edition and three silver medals and one bronze medal at the 2022 edition. At the 2018 Pan Pacific Championships, he won the bronze medal in the 10 kilometre open water swim. Mack Horton
Mackenzie James Horton (born 25 April 1996) is an Australian freestyle swimmer. He is an Olympic gold medallist, World Championships medallist, and Commonwealth Games medallist. At the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, he finished first in the 400m freestyle, winning his first gold medal and became the first male swimmer from the state of Victoria to do so in the Games' history. Career 2012–2013 Horton first represented Australia at the 2012 Junior Pan Pacific Swimming Championships in Honolulu at the Veterans Memorial Aquatic Center, where he won gold in the 1500 metre freestyle in a championship record time of 15:10.07. Elijah Winnington
Elijah Winnington (born 5 May 2000) is an Australian competitive swimmer who specialises in the sprint freestyle events. He has competed in the 2018 Commonwealth Games, Pan Pacific Swimming Championships, FINA World Junior Swimming Championships, 2020 Summer Olympics, and 2022 World Aquatics Championships. Winnington is the current 400m freestyle world champion. Background Winnington was born in Gold Coast, Queensland. He went to King's Christian College, graduating in 2017.
