2022 Tour De France Femmes
The 2022 Tour de France Femmes (officially Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift) was the first edition of the Tour de France Femmes, one of women's cycling's two grand tours. The race took place from 24 to 31 July 2022, and was the 16th event in the 2022 UCI Women's World Tour. The race followed years of campaigning by the women's professional peloton for an equivalent race to the men's Tour de France, after historic attempts failed due to financial difficulties, limited media coverage and trademark issues. The race was organised by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO), which also organises the men's Tour de France. The race was won by Annemiek van Vleuten of . At the start of the race, van Vleuten suffered from a stomach bug, causing her to lose almost a minute to some of her rivals for the ''maillot jaune''. La Planche Des Belles Filles
La Planche des Belles Filles () is a ski station in the Vosges Mountains, in France. It is located in the Haute-Saône département. Since 2012, the climb to the summit has been used several times during the Tour de France cycle race. Etymology and legend The name ''Belles Filles'' literally means "beautiful girls", but is actually derived from the local plant life. The mountain is attested from the 16th century as ''lieu peuplé de belles fahys'', a "place inhabited with nice beech trees" in the local dialect. ''Belles fahys'' later became corrupted into ''Belles Filles'', though there remains a nearby village of Belfahy. Meanwhile, ''Planche'', "board", is derived from the nearby small town of Plancher-les-Mines. A folk etymology, in contrast, holds that the mountain took its name from the time of the Thirty Years' War. 2022 UCI Women's World Tour
The 2022 UCI Women's World Tour is a competition that includes twenty-five road cycling events throughout the 2022 women's cycling season. It is the seventh edition of the UCI Women's World Tour, the ranking system launched by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) in 2016. The competition will begin with Strade Bianche on 5 March, and finishes with the Tour de Romandie Féminin on 9 October. Parkhotel Valkenburg Cycling Team () is a UCI Women's Continental Team based in the Netherlands, which competes in elite women's road bicycle races such as the UCI Women's World Tour. Lorena Wiebes (born 17 March 1999) is a Dutch racing cyclist, who currently rides for UCI Women's WorldTeam . She rode for in the women's team time trial event at the 2018 UCI Road World Championships. She won the gold medal in road cycling at the 2019 European Games, beating her compatriot Marianne Vos in the sprint for the line. Kathryn Bertine (born 11 May 1975) is a Saint Kitts and Nevis racing cyclist, author, activist, film-maker and former professional figure skater and professional triathlete. She turned professional in road cycling in 2012 and raced on World Tour teams until 2017.
