2022 Skate Canada International
The 2022 Skate Canada International is the second event in the 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, a senior-level international invitational competition series. It will be held at the Paramount Fine Foods Centre in Mississauga, Ontario on October 28–30. Medals will be awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Skaters will earn points toward qualifying for the 2022–23 Grand Prix Final. Entries The International Skating Union announced the preliminary assignments on July 22, 2022. ISU Grand Prix Of Figure Skating
The ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating (known as ISU Champions Series from 1995 to 1997) is a series of senior international figure skating competitions organized by the International Skating Union. The invitational series was inaugurated in 1995, incorporating several previously existing events. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of single skating, men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The junior-level equivalent is the ISU Junior Grand Prix. The 2022–23 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating is a series of invitational senior internationals that is held from October 2022 through December 2022. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Skaters earn points based on their placement at each event and the top six in each discipline qualified to compete at the Grand Prix Final in Turin, Italy. Organized by the International Skating Union, the series sets the stage for the 2023 European, the 2023 Four Continents, and the 2023 World Championships. Kelly Ann Laurin
Kelly Ann Laurin (born November 16, 2005) is a Canadian pair skater. With her skating partner, Loucas Éthier, she is the 2022 Skate America bronze medallist. Career Early years Laurin began learning to skate in 2011. In 2018, she teamed up with Loucas Éthier. The two won gold in the novice pairs' event at the 2019 Canadian Championships. 2019–20 season Laurin/Éthier appeared at one ISU Junior Grand Prix event, placing sixth in Poland. Madeline Schizas (born February 14, 2003) is a Canadian figure skater. She is a two-time ISU Challenger Series bronze medalist, the 2020 International Challenge Cup bronze medalist, and a two-time Canadian national champion (2022, 2023), and represented Canada at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Personal life Schizas was born on February 14, 2003, in Oakville, Ontario. She is the daughter of economist Linda Nazareth, and former broadcaster Lou Schizas. Her mother is of Indian Canadian ancestry while her father is Greek Canadian. Schizas attended White Oaks Secondary School in Oakville. Gabrielle Daleman (born January 13, 1998) is a Canadian figure skater. She is a 2018 Olympic gold medalist in the team event, the 2017 World bronze medalist, 2017 Four Continents silver medalist, 2014 CS Autumn Classic champion, and two-time Canadian national champion. Conrad Orzel (born July 11, 2000) is a Canadian figure skater and model. He is the 2019 Bavarian Open silver medalist and 2023 Canadian national silver medalist. Keegan Messing (born January 23, 1992) is a Canadian-American figure skater. Representing Canada, he has competed at two Winter Olympic Games in 2018 and 2022. Jason Chan (born 12 August 1996) is a Canadian-Australian ice dancer who currently represents Australia. With partner Holly Harris, he is the 2019 Australian national senior champion. With former partner Valérie Taillefer he was the 2014 Canadian novice dance champion. 2022–23 Grand Prix Of Figure Skating Final
The 2022–23 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final was held from December 8–11, 2022 at the Torino Palavela in Turin, Italy. The combined event was the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance on the senior and junior levels. The previous Grand Prix Final in 2019 took place in Turin as well. The finals in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
