2022 PDC World Cup Of Darts
The 2022 Cazoo World Cup of Darts was the twelfth edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts. It took place from 16–19 June 2022 at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany. Scotland ( Peter Wright and John Henderson) were the defending champions, after beating Austria (Mensur Suljović and Rowby-John Rodriguez) 3–1 in the 2021 final. However, they lost 2–0 to England ( Michael Smith and James Wade) in the quarter-finals. Australia (Damon Heta and Simon Whitlock) won their first World Cup, beating Wales (Jonny Clayton and Gerwyn Price) 3–1 in the final. For the first time in the tournament's history, the eight seeds all made the quarter-final stage. Format The tournament remained at 32 teams this year, with the top 8 teams being seeded and the remaining 24 teams being unseeded in the first round. Eissporthalle Frankfurt
Eissporthalle Frankfurt or Eissporthalle am Ratsweg is an arena in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt, Germany. It is used for ice hockey and is the home arena of Löwen Frankfurt. It is also used as an ice skating rink. It has opened on 19 December 1981 and holds 6,946 people. History The first skating rink in Frankfurt opened during a patent exhibition in 1882 in the Palmengarten. It covered 520m² and operated for two months; the refrigeration system was designed by Linde,Linde AG: "75 Jahre Linde", 1954, S. 52 and it was probably the first skating rink where Ammonia was used as a refrigerant. Ten years later, a larger rink was permanently installed on the same site. The Eissporthalle was designed by Richard Heil and Werner Deyle, when it opened it was one of two buildings with ice skating rinks, the other was next to the Waldstadion which closed in the 1990s. Jonny Clayton
Jonny Clayton (born 4 October 1974) is a Welsh professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. Nicknamed The Ferret, he was half of the Welsh team that won the 2020 PDC World Cup of Darts before winning his first televised singles title, the 2021 Masters, which would lead him to qualifying for the 2021 Premier League Darts, which he would go on to win as well. He subsequently won his first ranked televised title at the 2021 World Grand Prix. Career 2015 Clayton joined the PDC Pro Tour in 2015 after winning a Tour Card on the final day of Qualifying School against Jake Strong in a 6-0 whitewash, a result that "Strongy" seems to replicate on many occasions. Dirk Van Duijvenbode
Dirk van Duijvenbode (born 30 June 1992) is a Dutch professional darts player who plays in Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) events. He is known for his energetic walk-on, combined with hardstyle music. More recently, he has become known for his job on an aubergine farm, which has led to him having the nickname 'Aubergenius'. Michael Van Gerwen
Michael van Gerwen (; born 25 April 1989) is a Dutch professional darts player. He is currently ranked number 3 in the world, having been number 1 from 2014 to 2021. He is also a three-time PDC World Champion, having won the title in 2014, 2017 and 2019. Van Gerwen is regarded as one of the best players of all time. The 2018 Betway World Cup of Darts was the eighth edition of the PDC World Cup of Darts. It took place between 31 May–3 June 2018 in at the Eissporthalle in Frankfurt, Germany.
