2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships
The 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships was the 84th annual NCAA Men's Division I Cross Country Championship and the 42nd annual NCAA Women's Division I Cross Country Championship to determine the team and individual national champions of NCAA Division men's and women's collegiate cross country running in the United States. These championships were hosted by Oklahoma State University at the OSU Cross Country Course in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In all, four different titles were contested: men's and women's individual and team championships. The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) is a New Orleans, Louisiana-based professional association representing men's and women's cross country and track & field coaches in the United States. The organization has about 8,000 members. 94% of NCAA track & field programs are members of USTFCCCA. The group serves as an advocate for coaches, providing a national forum to address their needs. It also serves as a lobbyist for coaches' interests, and a "liaison between the various stakeholders" in the sport. Hall of Fame The organization is the custodian of the USTFCCCA Coaches Hall of Fame, founded in 1995. The NCAA Women's Division III Cross Country Championship is an annual cross country meet to decide the team and individual national champions of women's NCAA Division III intercollegiate cross country running in the United States. It is held every fall, usually in November the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The most successful program is Johns Hopkins, with eighth national titles. The current champions are Johns Hopkins, who won their eighth title in 2022. Format The race included 9 teams in 1981, 12 teams from 1982 to 1986, 14 teams from 1987 to 1992, 21 teams from 1993 to 1998 and 24 teams from 1999 to 2005. NCAA Men's Division III Cross Country Championship
The NCAA Men's Division III Cross Country Championship is an annual cross country meet to decide the team and individual national champions of men's NCAA Division III intercollegiate cross country running in the United States. It has been held every fall, usually in November, since the NCAA split into its current three-division format in 1973. The current champions are MIT, who won their first national title in 2022. Format The field for the national championship race varied in the early years, reaching a high of 52 teams in 1977. From 1982 to 1998 the field was fixed at 21 teams. From 1999 to 2005 the field included 24 teams. Beginning in 2006, the national championship race has included 32 teams. Teams compete in one of ten regional championships to qualify. The NCAA Women's Division II Cross Country Championship is an annual cross country meet to decide the team and individual national champions of women's intercollegiate cross country running in the United States. It has been held every November since the NCAA began sponsoring women's sports in 1981. It is usually held at the same location as the NCAA Men's Division II Cross Country Championship. The defending national teams champions are the Adams State Grizzlies, who won their twentieth national title in 2022. The NCAA Men's Division II Cross Country Championship is an annual cross country meet to decide the team and individual national champions of men's intercollegiate cross country running in the United States. It has been held every fall, usually in November, since breaking off from the NCAA University Division Men's Cross Country Championships in 1958. Known as the NCAA College Division Men's Cross Country Championship until 1973, it was created for cross country programs from smaller universities and colleges. Ky Robinson
Ky Robinson (born February 27, 2002) is an Australian long-distance runner. Robinson competed in the 10,000m at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, placing sixth in a time of 27:44.33. Prep career Robinson started training for athletics when he was 15. In 2018 Robinson placed fourth in Australian U18 cross country championships. He finished in third the next year. In 2019 he won three Queensland U18 titles in the 1500m, 3000m, and the 2,000m steeplechase. Dylan Jacobs
Dylan Jacobs (born June 15, 2000) is an American distance runner who competed for Notre Dame and the Tennessee in college before turning pro and signing with On. He is a three-time NCAA Champion. High school career Jacobs attended Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Illinois. His sophomore year he won the state cross country meet and helped the team to a fourth-place finish at Nike Cross Nationals. His junior year, he finished 11th at the Footlocker Nationals and followed it up with a second place finish in the 4×800 relay at the Illinois state meet. As a Senior he was the 2017 Footlocker Nationals individual champion, and won the 1600m and 4×800 relay at the Illinois state meet. Nico Young (born July 27, 2002) is an American distance runner competing as a sophomore for Northern Arizona University. He grew up in Camarillo, California and attended Newbury Park High School. He competed in the United States Olympics Trials in 2021. Athletic career High School Career Young ran for Newbury Park High School in Newbury Park, California. He broke the 3 mile cross country American high school record at the 2019 Woodbridge Invitational, running a time of 13:39.7, and lowered the American high school indoor 3000m record (previously held by Drew Hunter), running a time of 7:56.91.
