2022 Jeddah Formula 2 Round
The 2022 Jeddah FIA Formula 2 round was a motor racing event held between 25 and 27 March 2022 at the Jeddah Corniche Circuit. It was the second round of the 2022 FIA Formula 2 Championship and was held in support of the 2022 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix. Classification Qualifying The qualifying session was held on 25 March 2022. Felipe Drugovich took pole position, the second of his Formula 2 career. The qualifying session was marred by three red flags. The first red flag came out for Théo Pourchaire, whose car broke down. A second red flag was flown after Logan Sargeant crashed heavily at the exit of turn 17. Oddly, a third red flag was shown due to a technical error after GPS systems indicated that Frederik Vesti stopped on track, despite no such event occurring. Jeddah Corniche Circuit
The Jeddah Corniche Circuit ( ar, حلبة كورنيش جدة) is a motor racing circuit built in the Red Sea port city of Jeddah, in Saudi Arabia. The circuit staged the inaugural Saudi Arabian Grand Prix on 5 December 2021 as the penultimate race on the Formula One season calendar. History Named as the 'fastest street track' on the Formula One calendar with Formula One cars simulated to have average speeds in excess of , the track is the second-longest track on the Formula One calendar, with only Spa-Francorchamps being longer. Logan Hunter Sargeant (born December 31, 2000) is an American racing driver, who most recently competed in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with Carlin. He will compete for Williams Racing in the 2023 Formula One World Championship, having graduated from the Williams Driver Academy. Early career Karting career Sargeant began his motorsport career in karting in 2008. In his first year, he competed in the Rotax Micro Max class in regional and national championships, finishing third in the Florida Winter Tour and the Rotax Max Challenge USA. Jake Hughes (born 30 May 1994) is a British racing driver and winner of the inaugural BRDC Formula 4 Championship. He has won multiple races at Formula 3 level, and is set to compete in the 2022–23 Formula E season with Neom McLaren. Calan Williams (born 30 June 2000) is an Australian racing driver who is competing in the GT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with BMW M Team WRT. is a Japanese racing driver currently competing in the FIA Formula 2 Championship with DAMS. He previously raced in the FIA Formula 3 Championship with Hitech Grand Prix. Campos Racing
Campos Racing is a Spanish motor racing team, founded by former Formula One driver Adrián Campos. The team has been successful in Formula Three and the GP2 Series. History After retiring from racing, Campos formed his own team at the end of 1997, under the name Campos Motorsport. In 1998 the team began by competing in the new Open Fortuna by Nissan, with Marc Gené and Antonio García as drivers. Marcus Cornelius Armstrong (born 29 July 2000) is a New Zealand motor racing driver. He is due to compete in IndyCar on road and street courses with Chip Ganassi Racing in 2023. Amaury Cordeel (; born 9 July 2002) is a Belgian racing driver set to compete in the 2023 FIA Formula 2 Championship with Virtuosi Racing. Clément Novalak (born 23 December 2000) is a French- Swiss racing driver set to race for Trident in the 2023 Formula 2 Championship, having previously drove for MP Motorsport. He previously raced in the FIA Formula Three Championship for Carlin and Trident and won the 2019 British F3 Championship with Carlin.
