Artistic Gymnastics
Artistic gymnastics is a discipline of gymnastics in which athletes perform short routines on different apparatuses. The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Gymnastique (FIG), which designs the Code of Points and regulates all aspects of elite international competition. Within individual countries, gymnastics is regulated by national federations like British Gymnastics and USA Gymnastics. Artistic gymnastics is a popular spectator sport at many competitions, including the Summer Olympic Games. History The gymnastic system was mentioned in writings by ancient authors, including Homer, Aristotle, and Plato. It included many disciplines that later became independent sports, such as swimming, racing, wrestling, boxing, and horse riding. It was also used for military training. Alec Yoder
Alec Yoder (born January 21, 1997) is a retired American artistic gymnast. He represented the United States at the 2020 Olympic Games, competing as an individual athlete. He is the 2014 Youth Olympic all-around bronze medalist and the 2019 NCAA champion on pommel horse. Early life Yoder was born in Indianapolis, Indiana, on January 21, 1997, to parents Michael and Rebecca Yoder. He began training in gymnastics at age four when his mother took him to a "mommy and me" class. He began training at Deveau's School of Gymnastics in Fishers, Indiana. In July 2009, he left Deveau's and began training with Coach Gene Watson, first at Indy School of Gymnastics and then at InterActive Academy in Zionsville, Indiana. Elite career For both the 2013–14 and 2014–15 competitive seasons, he qualified to be a member of the US Men's Junior National Team. Cottbus
Cottbus (; Lower Sorbian: ''Chóśebuz'' ; Polish: Chociebuż) is a university city and the second-largest city in Brandenburg, Germany. Lisa Zimmermann (born February 13, 2003) is a German artistic gymnast who represented Germany at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games. Early life Zimmermann was born in Darmstadt in 2003. She currently trains in Chemnitz. Gymnastics career Junior 2016–2017 In 2016 Zimmermann competed at both the German National Championships and the German Cup, where she placed sixth amongst the other thirteen year olds and nineteenth respectively. In 2017 Zimmermann competed at the German National Championships where she once again placed sixth in the all-around; however she won the silver medal on both vault and balance beam, behind Emelie Petz. 2018 In May Zimmermann competed at the German Junior National Championships where she won the bronze medal in the all-around behind Emelie Petz and Sidney Hayn. Cintia Rodríguez
Cintia Rodríguez Rodríguez (born November 16, 1994) is a retired Spanish artistic gymnast. She helped Spain qualify a women's team for the 2020 Summer Olympics through her performances at the 2019 World Artistic Gymnastics Championships, marking the first time Spain have sent a women's team since Athens 2004. Rodriguez was part of the Spanish team that won the bronze medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games. She also won an individual bronze medal on the floor exercise. Personal life Rodriguez was born in Inca, Mallorca, and took up gymnastics at age 3, inspired by her sister. Rodriguez studies criminology through the National University of Distance Education. Guan Chenchen ( zh, c=管晨辰, p=Guǎn Chén Chén; born September 25, 2004) is a Chinese former artistic gymnast. She is the 2020 Olympic champion and the 2020 Chinese champion on the balance beam. On the junior level, she was a member of the Chinese team who won silver at the 2019 Junior World Championships. Career Guan began gymnastics in November 2010. Philipp Herder
Philipp Herder (born 21 October 1992) is a retired German artistic gymnast who represented Germany at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan. Career In 2011, Herder had a neck injury that required surgery to replace a disk with two fused vertebrae, and he temporarily retired from the sport, but he returned at the 2014 World Championships. Herder competed at the 2015 World Championships and helped the German team finish ninth in the qualification round. Herder competed at the 2016 Olympic Test Event and won the gold medal with the German team which allowed Germany to send a full team to the 2016 Olympic Games. Herder was selected as an alternate for Germany's 2016 Olympic team. Anastasiia Yuriivna Bachynska ( uk, Анастасія Юріївна Бачинська, born 4 August 2003) is a retired Ukrainian artistic gymnast.
