2022 BYU Cougars Baseball Team
The 2022 BYU Cougars baseball team represented Brigham Young University during the 2022 NCAA Division I baseball season. Mike Littlewood began the season as acting head coach of the Cougars for a tenth consecutive season. However, on April 11 Littlewood announced he was stepping away from BYU Baseball due to personal reasons that were undisclosed. Assistant coach Trent Pratt was named acting head coaching for the remainder of the season. With 22 players returning this season the Cougars were picked to finish second in the WCC Pre-season poll. To conclude the season the WCC hosted the 2022 baseball tournament May 24–28 at Banner Island Ballpark. For the first time in WCC history the tournament expanded to 6 teams. Teams 1 and 2 received byes into the double elimination bracket while 3 played 6 and 4 played 5 in a single elimination first round. BYU qualified for the tournament as the #4 seed. Mike Littlewood
Michael Rory Littlewood is an American baseball coach. He played college baseball at BYU from 1985 to 1988, before playing professionally in 1988. He then served as the head coach of then ''Dixie State Rebels'' (later called "Red Storm", now Utah Tech Trailblazers) from 1996-2012, and then the BYU Cougars (2013–2022.) Playing career Littlewood was a third baseman at BYU, earning All-Conference as both a junior and senior. He was drafted in the 27th round of the 1988 MLB Draft by the Milwaukee Brewers and played one season at Class-A Beloit Brewers. Coaching career Shortly after his playing career ended, Littlewood accepted the head coaching position at Alta High School in Sandy, Utah. He remained for three seasons before moving to Dixie State, then a junior college in St. George, Utah. The Portland Pilots is the nickname for athletics at the University of Portland. The Pilots compete in the West Coast Conference (WCC) at the NCAA Division I level. History The Pilots started to gain attention when Clive Charles began coaching the women's soccer team in 1989. Smith's Ballpark (formerly known as Franklin Quest Field, later Franklin Covey Field, and more recently Spring Mobile Ballpark) is a minor league baseball park in Salt Lake City, Utah. The Utah Utes baseball team is the varsity intercollegiate baseball program of University of Utah in Salt Lake City Utah, United States. The program's first season was in 1892, and it has been a member of the NCAA Division I Pac-12 Conference since the start of the 2012 season. Globe Life Field is a retractable roof stadium in Arlington, Texas. It is the home ballpark of Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers. Milwaukee Panthers Baseball
The Milwaukee Panthers are an NCAA Division I college baseball team competing in the Horizon League for the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. The current head coach is Scott Doffek. As the only Division I college baseball team in the state of Wisconsin, the Panthers have seen much success, including posting six 30-win seasons in the last nine years. They have also qualified for three NCAA Tournaments since 1999, including a win over #1 ranked Rice in the first round of the 1999 NCAA Tournament.
