2021–22 US Monastir Basketball Season
The 2021–22 season was the 63rd season of the US Monastir men's basketball team and the 2nd of the team in the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Monastir won both the Championnat National A and the Tunisian Basketball Cup. On May 28, 2022, it won its first-ever BAL championship after winning the 2022 BAL Finals over Petro de Luanda. Union Sportive Monastirienne ( ar, الاتحاد الرياضي المنستيري‎), commonly known as US Monastir, is a Tunisian professional basketball club based in Monastir. Established in 1959, the team plays in the Pro A the first division league in Tunisia and has won seven national championships. The Championnat Pro A (formerly known as the Championnat National A (CNA)) is the highest tier professional basketball league in Tunisia. The league is organised by the Tunisia Basketball Federation (FTBB). Established in 1956, the league currently features 10 teams. Étoile Sportive de Radès is the record holder for most titles, with a total of thirteen. The current champion is US Monastir, who won the title in the 2022–23 season. Union Sportive El Ansar, commonly known as US Ansar, is a Tunisian basketball club based in Dar Chaabane. The club was founded in 1946 and currently plays in the Pro A, the highest level of Tunisian basketball. The team colours are green and orange. The team has won the national championship four times, the last time being in 2016. 2021 BAL Season
The 2021 BAL season, also known as BAL Season 1, was the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). Established as a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and FIBA, the BAL is the highest tier continental league of Africa, replacing the FIBA Africa Basketball League. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Africa, COVID-19 pandemic, the BAL held its inaugural season one year later as planned, with the season beginning in 2021.
