2021 FC Barcelona Presidential Election
The 2021 FC Barcelona presidential election took place on 7 March 2021 for electing the 42nd President of the club. History Initially the election was to be held on 24 January 2021 but was later postponed due to the increased cases of COVID-19 in Spain in January. Carles Tusquets was the preceding interim President of the club who took over from Josep Maria Bartomeu after the latter resigned on 27 October 2020. However, Tusquets did not contest the elections. 9 pre candidates ran for the presidency. These include former club President Joan Laporta, Victor Font, Emili Rousaud, Toni Freixa, Jordi Farre, Augusti Benedito, Xavi Vilajona, Lluis Fernadez, and Pere Riera. In order to advance to the main election the candidates had to collect a minimum of 2,257 signatures from club members. Joan Laporta, Victor Font and Toni Frexia were the only remaining candidates. 2015 FC Barcelona Presidential Election
The 2015 FC Barcelona presidential election was the thirteenth FC Barcelona presidential election, held on Saturday 18 July 2015. The interim president Josep Maria Bartomeu's candidacy got re-elected by defeating the three other main challengers: Joan Laporta, former President of the club, Toni Freixa, a former executive, and Agustí Benedito, an entrepreneur. The voters of the election were the 109,637 FC Barcelona ''socis'' (members) at the Camp Nou, who voted through a universal suffrage system and elected their new president for 6 years. The final turnout was 43.12%, a decrease of a 5% since the last election. Joan Laporta
Joan Laporta Estruch (; born 29 June 1962) is a Spanish politician and current president of FC Barcelona. Laporta is a lawyer (he graduated from the University of Barcelona) with his own firm, Laporta & Arbós, which has a number of notable Spanish firms as clients. He served as MP in the Parliament of Catalonia between 2010 and 2012. Josep Maria Bartomeu
Josep Maria Bartomeu Floreta (born 6 February 1963) is a Spanish entrepreneur, and a former president of football club FC Barcelona. He started his presidency in 2014, following the resignation of Sandro Rosell; he held the post until his resignation in 2020. He was replaced by interim FC Barcelona president Carlos Tusquets, and afterwards by election winner Joan Laporta.
