2021 Capital Football Season
The 2021 Capital Football season was the 68th season in Capital Football. The season commenced 10 April 2021. The season was suspended from August from government-imposed lockdowns, due to the impacts from the COVID-19 pandemic in Australia and cancelled in September. Tigers FC were the NPL1 Premiers (based on a points per match formula rather than aggregate points), and qualified for the 2021 National Premier Leagues final series; they were also the Federation Cup winner, and qualified for the 2021 FFA Cup. 2021 National Premier Leagues Capital Football NPL 1 is the ACT’s highest senior men’s division. After the season was cancelled, a points per match formula was applied to award Tigers FC as the Premiers, and to relegate Tuggeranong United. Capital Football is the trading name for the ACT Football Federation Incorporated, the state governing body for association football, soccer in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), but also has affiliated clubs based in surrounding areas of New South Wales. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the national governing body. History Capital Football was founded in the 1960s as the ''ACT Soccer Federation Incorporated''. The Capital Football State League is an amateur soccer league system based in the Canberra, Australian Capital Territory (ACT) region. The league system is organised and run by Capital Football. It represents levels three and below for men in the ACT league pyramid beneath the ACT NPL 1 and Capital Premier League, and level 2 and below for women beneath the ACT NPL W. Men's structure The ACT State League men's structure is broken into fourteen leagues composed of ten All-Age State League Competitions and four age restricted Masters Competitions.
