Capital Football is the trading name for the ACT Football Federation Incorporated, the state governing body for association football, soccer in the Australian Capital Territory, Australia, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), but also has affiliated clubs based in surrounding areas of New South Wales. It is affiliated with Football Australia, the national governing body. History Capital Football was founded in the 1960s as the ''ACT Soccer Federation Incorporated''. The organisation replaced the defunct ''Federal Capital Territory Soccer Football Association'' which controlled soccer in the ACT between 1926 and 1932 and the ''Federal Monaro District Soccer Association'' which lasted two years (1932–33). Heather Lynne Reid AM is a former Australian football administrator and an advocate for gender equity, diversity and inclusion in sport, particularly in the world game of football. From 2018 to 2021, she was a member of the Football Australia Board. Personal Reid was born in Goulburn, New South Wales in 1956. Her parents emigrated from Edinburgh, Scotland to Australia in 1955 with her elder brother and sister. She grew up in Cooma, Khancoban and Talbingo due to her Scottish father working on the Snowy Mountains Scheme. Reid attended Tumut High School where she was school captain in 1973. In 1974, she moved to Canberra to undertake a secretarial course at the TAFE college. Cooma Tigers Football Club is an Australian semi-professional association football club based in Cooma, New South Wales, Cooma, New South Wales. National Youth League (Australia)
A-League Youth, formerly known as the National Youth League and Y-League, is an Australian national soccer youth developmental and under-21s league, founded by Football Federation Australia and now run by the Australian Professional Leagues. The current league was established as a successor to the previous competition of the National Youth League (1984–2004) and commenced in August 2008. The league runs in conjunction with the A-League Men as a developmental or reserve league. The league, as well as the A-League Men and A-League Women are administered by the Australian Professional Leagues. In 2020 it was contested by ten teams, all of which competed in the A-League. The National Premier Leagues Capital Football 1 (also known as NPL ACT 1 or simply NPL1) is a soccer competition contested by clubs affiliated to Capital Football. The league is the highest level (level 1) competition in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) region. It is a subdivision of the National Premier Leagues and sits in Level 2 in the overall Australian league system. History The competition was restructured after the 2006 season, based on criterion requiring a development pathway within clubs where each club must field a team in a reserves and Under-18 divisions. The 2008–09 W-League was the first season of the W-League, the top Australian professional women's soccer league, since its establishment in 2008. Canberra United Football Club is an Australian professional soccer club based in the southern Canberra suburb of Wanniassa, Australian Capital Territory. Founded in 2008 by Capital Football, the club was an inaugural member of the W-League and the only club not affiliated with an A-League Men team.
