2021 Canadian Curling Trials Direct-Entry Event
The 2021 Canadian Curling Trials Direct-Entry Event was held from September 22 to 26 at the RA Centre in Ottawa, Ontario. The event was held to qualify two men's teams and three women's teams for the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Trials. On the men's side, Teams Mike McEwen and Matt Dunstone secured the two Trials berths, both finishing 5–1 through the round robin and qualifying rounds. McEwen's only loss came to Dunstone in Draw 2 with Dunstone dropping their first game to Glenn Howard before running the table. The three teams who did not qualify, Colton Flasch, Jason Gunnlaugson, and Glenn Howard, will still have a chance to reach the Olympic Trials, as they drop into the 2021 Canadian Olympic Curling Pre-Trials. On the women's side, Teams Casey Scheidegger, Kelsey Rocque, and Laura Walker all secured berths to the trials, beating out Corryn Brown and Suzanne Birt for the three spots. Connor Njegovan
Connor Njegovan (born June 23, 1992) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. He currently plays lead on Team Reid Carruthers. Career Juniors Njegovan made his first and only Canadian Junior Curling Championships appearance in 2010 playing second for the Alex Forrest rink. The team finished the round robin in first place only suffering two losses to Northern Ontario and Saskatchewan. This meant the team had an automatic bye to the final. There, they faced Ontario who they had previously beaten in the round robin. The team gave up two in the final end to lose the game 8–7. Njegovan curled an average 81% during the round robin. Matt Wozniak
Matt Wozniak (born January 6, 1983) is a Canadian curler from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Wozniak is the former second for the Mike McEwen team which curled out of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club in Winnipeg. Career 2005–2010 In 2005, Wozniak joined the new Mike McEwen rink that included Justin Richter and Andrew Melnuk. For the 2006-07 season, Richter and Melnuk left the team and were replaced with Geordie Hargreaves and Adam Guenther. The team disbanded after just one season together. Wozniak and McEwen joined with brothers Denni and B. J. Neufeld in 2007. In their first season together, they were a semi-finalist at the 2008 Safeway Championship, Manitoba's provincial championship. Adam Casey (curler)
Adam Adrian Casey (born August 28, 1989) is a Canadian curler originally from Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He currently skips his own team. Career As a junior, Casey played in Prince Edward Island as the third on the Brett Gallant junior men's team. As a member of the team, Casey won 5 straight provincial junior championships from 2006 to 2010 inclusively. In 2007, they won a bronze medal at the Canada Winter Games. The team won the 2009 Canadian Junior Curling Championships and won a silver medal at the 2009 World Junior Curling Championships. After juniors in 2010, Casey moved to Nova Scotia to play third for the Chris Sutherland rink. Nutana Curling Club
The Nutana Curling Club is a curling club located in the neighbourhood of Nutana Suburban Centre in south-central Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. The club was organized in 1929 at the Nutana Collegiate Institute. The club was first opened in 1930 at the corner of Dufferin Avenue and Main Street in the Nutana neighbourhood of the city. In 1966, it moved to its current suburban location at the corner of Arlington Avenue and Taylor Street. The club hosts the annual Colonial Square Ladies Classic, one of women's events on the World Curling Tour and former Grand Slam of Curling event. Daniel Marsh (born November 18, 1988, in Regina) is a Canadian curler from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. He currently plays lead on Team Mike McEwen. Career During the 2010–11 season, Marsh had two playoff appearances on the Saskatchewan Curling Tour. His team, skipped by brother Kevin Marsh finished runner-up at the KMC Rocktoberfest and lost in the semifinals at the 2010 Horizon Laser Vision Center Classic. Catlin Schneider (born October 17, 1991) is a Canadians, Canadian curling, curler from Regina, Saskatchewan. Career Born in Regina, Saskatchewan, Schneider was a two-sport athlete at university, playing both football and curling for the University of Regina. In football, Schneider was a wide receiver. In curling, he skip (curling), skipped the University of Regina curling team at the 2014 CIS/CCA Curling Championships on home ice.
