2021 Bowls England National Finals
The 2021 Bowls England National Finals are a series of lawn bowls events to determine the National champions of England. The Championships were held from 19 August to 19 September 2021, at the Royal Leamington Spa Bowls Club in Victoria Park, Leamington Spa. They are organised by Bowls England, and are open to lawn bowlers who qualify via their County Championships. The 2021 finals were streamed live for the first time on YouTube. The National Finals had been cancelled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic'' Sam Tolchard won his sixth and seventh men's national championship title after winning the men's singles and two wood singles. His sister Sophie Tolchard won her eighth national title when winning the triples with Harriet Stevens and Emma Cooper. Victoria Park, Leamington Spa
Victoria Park is a public park in Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, England. It is situated about half a mile (800 m) west of the town centre and is on the south bank of the River Leam. The total area of the park as it stands today is . History & Features Up until the 1830s the park was just part of farmland on the edge of the growing spa town. It was at that time that one of the local land owning families, the Willes, began to hold archery competitions on the land. In the middle of the nineteenth century Leamington Cricket club made their first home there and in the 1860s the New Riverside Walk was opened. The park was extensively landscaped and redesigned in 1899 to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Victoria. Before the Royal Show moved to Stoneleigh Park one of its venues was Victoria Park. Katherine Hawes
Katherine Elizabeth Alice Hawes (born 1969) is an English female lawn and indoor bowler international. Bowls career International events In 1997 she won the pairs gold medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships with Mary Price. The following year she represented England in the pairs again with Mary Price, at the 1998 Commonwealth Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 1999 she won a fours silver at the Atlantic Championships in Cape Town and the following year she won a triples silver medal at the 2000 World Outdoor Bowls Championship in Johannesburg, South Africa. The men's fours is one of the events at the annual Bowls England National Championships. History From 1905 until 1914, the event was called the Charles Wood Australian Cup. Louis Ridout
Louis Ridout is an English international indoor and outdoor bowls player. Bowls career In 2015 he won the pairs bronze medal at the Atlantic Bowls Championships. In 2016 he won the National title in the Pairs with Sam Tolchard. The bowler who represents Devon represented England during the 2016 World Outdoor Bowls Championship. He was selected as part of the English team for the 2018 Commonwealth Games on the Gold Coast in Queensland where he claimed a bronze medal in the Fours with David Bolt, Jamie Chestney and Sam Tolchard. He was crowned National singles champion in August 2018 after defeating Andrew Squire 21–16 in the final. He subsequently became the British singles champion after winning the British Isles Bowls Championships the following year. Wayne Willgress
Wayne Willgress (born 1988) in Mulbarton, Norfolk, is an English male lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Willgress was an England Junior international and was the National triples champion in 2007 and singles runner-up in 2012 during the Men's National Championships. He knocked out the world number one Greg Harlow to reach the semi-finals of the 2018 World Indoor Bowls Championship. Mark Royal (born 1975) is an English international lawn and indoor bowler. Bowls career Outdoors Royal won the Men's Champion of Champions singles title in 2003, at the National Championships. In 2021, he reached the final of the event again, only to lose out to Jamie Chestney 21–11.
