The 2020 World Junior Curling Championships was held from February 15 to 22 at the Crystal Ice Arena in Krasnoyarsk, Russia. Canada proved to be the best in the field in both events as Jacques Gauthier and Mackenzie Zacharias both won their respective events. Lauren Lenentine
Lauren Lenentine (born June 24, 2000) is a Canadian curler originally from Cornwall, Prince Edward Island and currently from Winnipeg, Manitoba. She is currently the alternate on Team Jennifer Jones. Career Lenentine curled out of her home province of Prince Edward Island for most of her junior career before moving to Nova Scotia for the 2018–19 season to join the Kaitlyn Jones rink, replacing Kristin Clarke who aged out of juniors and had joined Mary-Anne Arsenault's rink. The team was invited to play in the 2018 Masters Grand Slam of Curling event as the sponsors exemption. Despite this, they finished the round robin with a 3–1 record, beating Rachel Homan, Kerri Einarson and Silvana Tirinzoni with their only loss coming to Tracy Fleury. They couldn't continue their momentum into the playoffs however, falling to Chelsea Carey in the quarterfinals. James Craik (curler)
James Craik (born 13 June 2001) is a Scottish curler from Edzell and Stirling. Career Juniors As a junior curler, Craik is a three-time Scottish national champion and three-time World Junior medallist. He and his rink won gold at the 2022 World Junior Curling Championships. He also won a gold medal at the 2023 Winter World University Games. In 2019, he won his first Scottish Junior title, throwing second for the Ross Whyte rink. The team represented Scotland at the 2019 World Junior Curling Championships, where they went undefeated in the round robin, finishing with a 9–0 record. In the playoffs however, they lost to Switzerland in the semifinal, but rebounded to beat Norway in the bronze medal game. The following season, Craik won the Scottish junior title again, this time skipping his own team of Mark Watt, Blair Haswell and Niall Ryder. World Junior Curling Championships
The World Junior Curling Championships are an annual curling bonspiel featuring the world's best curlers who are 21 years old or younger. The competitions for both men and women occur at the same venue. The men's tournament has occurred since 1975 and the women's since 1988. Since curling became an Olympic sport in 1998, the World Junior Curling Championship of the year preceding the Olympic Games have been held at the site of the curling tournament for the upcoming Games. 2022 World Junior Curling Championships
The 2022 World Junior Curling Championships were held from May 15 to 22 at the Jönköping Curling Club in Jönköping, Sweden. The event was originally scheduled to be held March 5 to 12, however, was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Sweden. It was the final World Curling Federation event held during the 2021–22 curling season.
