2020 Tajikistan Higher League
The 2020 Ligai Olii Tojikiston (''Tajik: 2020 Лигаи Олии Тоҷикистон''), ( fa, لیگ عالی تاجیکستان ۲۰۲۰), or 2020 Tajikistan Higher League is the 29th season of Ligai Olii Tojikiston, Tajikistan's top division of association football. The season began on 5 April 2020. Season events On 27 March, the Tajikistan Football Federation announced that the opening round of games would be played behind closed doors due to the threat of the COVID-19 pandemic. On 25 April, the Tajikistan Football Federation announced the suspension of football, following the completion of Round 4 on 26 April, until 10 May. On 6 May, the Tajikistan Football Federation extended the suspension of football indefinitely due to the spread of COVID-19 pandemic in Tajikistan. On 8 June, the Tajikistan Football Federation announced that the season would resume on 16 June, with the games continuing to be played without spectators. The Ligai Olii Tojikiston ( Tajik: ''Лигаи Олии Тоҷикистон'') or Tajikistan Higher League ( fa, لیگ عالی فوتبال تاجیکستان, Russian: ''Высшая лига Таджикистана'') is the top division of professional football in Tajikistan. It is part of the Tajikistan Football League Organization and Tajikistan Football Federation. It was founded in 1992, with 8 clubs participating. The first champion of the league was CSKA Pomir Dushanbe. Currently the most successful team is FC Istiklol. The Markazii Tojikiston Stadium (russian: Центральный республиканский стадион Душанбе; tg, Варзишгоҳи марказии Тоҷикистон, Varzishgohi Markazii Tojikiston), also known as Pamir Stadium or Central Tajikistan Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Dushanbe, Tajikistan. Istaravshan Sports Complex is a sports complex in Istaravshan, Tajikistan. Istaravshan Stadium is the main stadium at the sports complex. In addition to the football stadium, its premises include a large sports gym, tennis courts, children's football field, martial arts areas, and a swimming pool. On August 11, 2012, chaos ensued when a late goal by visitors Energetik Dushanbe was allowed by the referee. A pitch invasion followed, forcing the players to retreat to the changing rooms. Istaravshan ( tg, Истаравшан; fa, استروشن; russian: Истаравшан) is a city in Sughd Province in Tajikistan. In 2000, the Tajik government changed the name of the city from earlier Uroteppa ( tg, Ӯротеппа; ''Ura-Tyube'', russian: Ура-Тюбе).
