2020 Ligurian Regional Election
The 2020 Ligurian regional election took place in Liguria, Italy on 20–21 September 2020. It was originally scheduled to take place on May 31, 2020, but it was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic in Italy. The result of the election was an absolute win of the incumbent President of Liguria, Giovanni Toti. Electoral system The Regional Council of Liguria is composed of 30 members, plus the president elect. The president elect is the candidate winning a plurality of votes at the election. Within the council, 24 seats are elected in provincial constituencies by proportional representation. The remaining 6 councillors are assigned as a majority bonus if the winning candidate has less than 18 seats, otherwise they are distributed among the losing coalitions. A single list must get at least 3% of the votes in a province in order to access the proportional distribution of seats, unless the list is connected to a coalition with more than 5% of the vote. Cambiamo! (, also stylized as C!) is a centre-right political party in Italy, led by Giovanni Toti. History Background and beginnings In June 2019, after the European Parliament election, Silvio Berlusconi appointed Giovanni Toti, president of Liguria, and Mara Carfagna, a former minister, national coordinators of Forza Italia (FI), with the goal of reforming and relaunching the party. However, after a few weeks, Toti left the party in opposition to Berlusconi, who had not endorsed Toti's proposal for open primaries, and launched Cambiamo!. The reasons of the split were FI's lack of internal democracy and lack of clarity on the alliance with the League and the Brothers of Italy (FdI) at country-level, which he definitely supported. Italia Viva (, IV) is a liberal political party in Italy founded in September 2019. The party is led by Matteo Renzi, a former Prime Minister of Italy and former secretary of the Democratic Party (PD). Solidary Democracy ( it, Democrazia Solidale, DemoS) is a Christian-leftist political party in Italy. The party's early leader, Lorenzo Dellai has described it as a " Christian-social" party. The Network 2018
The Network 2018 ( it, La Rete 2018) was a centre-left political party in Italy led by Leoluca Orlando, former leading member of Christian Democracy in Sicily, founder of The Network and The Democrats, and five-time mayor of Palermo. The party, which considered itself a re-foundation of The Network (established, among others, by Orlando in 1991), was launched in 2011 and caused a split from Italy of Values (IdV) in 2013. History èViva was founded by Francesco Laforgia (member of Article One) and Luca Pastorino (member of Possible) on 13 April 2019. The name of the movement has been chosen via an online-poll. Possible ( it, Possibile, Pos) is a left-wing political party in Italy, launched in Rome on 21 June 2015. The party's leader is Giuseppe Civati, a former prominent member of the Democratic Party (PD).
