2020 Kyalami 9 Hours
The 2020 Kyalami 9 Hours was an endurance event that took place on 12 December 2020 at the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand, South Africa. The event was the fourth and final round of the 2020 Intercontinental GT Challenge, a season curtailed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Honda team JAS Motorsport won pole position for the event and dominated the race by leading for eight hours until heavy rain switched up the order with an hour remaining. The race finished under a Full Course Yellow period and was won by BMW team Walkenhorst Motorsport, driven by local driver Sheldon van der Linde alongside Augusto Farfus, Jr. and Nick Catsburg. The result handed the latter two the drivers' title by five points over the third-placed trio of Matthew Campbell, Mathieu Jaminet and Patrick Pilet, while Porsche won the manufacturers' championship by 24 points over BMW. Midrand
Midrand is a former municipality in central Gauteng, South Africa. It is situated in-between Centurion and Sandton and now forms part of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. History Midrand was established as a municipality in 1981 (in an area known as ''Halfway House'', after its position between Pretoria and Johannesburg), but ceased to be an independent town in the restructuring of local government that followed the end of apartheid in 1994. It was incorporated in the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality in 2000. It was made part of Region 2 and, as of 2006, when the number of regions were reduced to seven, it forms part of Region A of the City of Johannesburg. Bertrand Baguette (born 23 February 1986) is a Belgian professional racing driver. In 2013, he won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMP2 class and the FIA WEC LMP2 class title. In 2017, he won the final running of the Suzuka 1000km in Super GT. Bertrand is the 2022 Super GT 500 Champion with Nissan. Martin Tomczyk
Martin Tomczyk (born 7 December 1981) is a German professional racing driver, and BMW Motorsport works driver. He was the DTM champion in 2011, third in 2007, fourth in 2006 and fifth in 2004, having won eight races. Racing career After a karting career, he raced in Formula BMW and Formula Three, where he finished 12th in 2000. In 2001 he moved up to the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters. In 2000 his best result was a fourth place on the Nürburgring where he also took the fastest of the race. He took his first pole position in Hockenheim 2002 but he retired from the race. In 2004 he took his first podium in Estoril. During 2004 he also finished second in Zandvoort, Oschersleben and Hockenheim on his way to finish fifth in the championship. Audi R8 (Type 4S)
The Audi R8 (Type 4S) is the second generation of the R8 sports car manufactured by German automobile manufacturer Audi. The Type 4S is based on the Lamborghini Huracán and shares its platform and engine. The Type 4S was introduced at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and its production began in late 2015. Development Development of the Type 4S began in 2013 and prototypes began testing in early-2014. The Type 4S is based on the Modular Sports System platform shared with the Lamborghini Huracán. He became the FIA GT3 European Champion in 2009, racing for Lamborghini and Reiter Engineering, and raced in GT1 for the first time in 2010. Patric Niederhauser (born 8 October 1991 in Münsingen) is a professional racing driver from Switzerland and a current Audi Factory Driver. He was the champion of the Formula Abarth Italian Series. The Bentley Continental GT is a grand tourer manufactured and marketed by British automaker Bentley Motors since 2003. It was the first car released by Bentley under Volkswagen AG management, after the company's acquisition in 1998, and the first Bentley to employ mass production manufacturing techniques. Jules Gounon (born 31 December 1994 in Aubenas) is an Andorran-based French professional racing driver. He is best known for his victories in the 24 Hours of Spa in 2017 and 2022 and Bathurst 12 Hour in 2020 and 2022. Maxime Soulet (born 26 July 1983) is a Belgian racing driver. Career Soulet began his racing career in 2002, competing in two races in the French Formula Renault series. In 2004, Soulet competed in both the Mini Cooper Challenge Belgium and the Belgian Formula Renault 1.6 series, winning championship titles in both. In 2015, Soulet was signed as a Bentley factory driver in the then-Blancpain GT Series.
