Erovnuli Liga 2
The Georgian Erovnuli Liga 2 ( ka, ეროვნული ლიგა 2; ), organized since 1990 by GFF, serves as the second division of professional football in Georgia. Under the current name the league was introduced for the 2017 season as a part of reorganization process of the entire league system. It was formerly known as Pirveli liga (the First league). Structure There are ten clubs competing in Erovnuli Liga 2. During the season each club plays against its rival four times, twice at home and twice away. At the end of each season the winner gains automatic promotion and the bottom club is relegated. 2020 Georgian Cup
The 2020 Georgian Cup was a single elimination association football tournament which began in August 2020 and ended on 4 December 2020. The winner of the cup earned a place in the first qualifying round of the 2021–22 UEFA Europa Conference League. Saburtalo Tbilisi were the defending Georgian Cup champions after winning the final in the previous season over Locomotive Tbilisi by a score of 3–1. First round Eighteen first round matches were played on 20–24 August 2020. Second round Twelve second round matches were played on 24–30 August 2020. The 2020 Erovnuli Liga or Crystalbet Erovnuli Liga 2020 (formerly known as ''Umaglesi Liga'') was the 32nd season of top-tier football in Georgia. Dinamo Tbilisi were the defending champions. The season began on 29 February 2020 and ended on 10 December 2020. The league winner, Dinamo Tbilisi, earned a place in the UEFA Champions League and the second and third-placed clubs, Dinamo Batumi and Dila Gori respectively, earned a place in the new UEFA Europa Conference League. In March the season was suspended following a decision by the Georgian Football Federation due to COVID-19 pandemic, initially until 1 April, but later the suspension was extended to late June. The 2021 Erovnuli Liga or Crystalbet Erovnuli Liga 2021 (formerly known as ''Umaglesi Liga'') is the 33rd season of top-tier football in Georgia. Dinamo Tbilisi are the defending champions. The season began on 27 February 2021 and is scheduled to end on 4 December 2021. The league winners will earn a place in the UEFA Champions League and the second and third-placed clubs will earn a place in the UEFA Europa Conference League. Teams and stadiums Changes Shukura (promoted after a three-year absence) and Samgurali Tsqaltubo (promoted after an eighteen-year absence) were promoted from the 2020 Erovnuli Liga 2. Mikheil Meskhi Stadium
The Mikheil Meskhi Stadium, also known as the Lokomotivi Stadium, is a multi-purpose stadium in Tbilisi, Georgia named after the famous Georgian international footballer, Mikheil Meskhi (1937–1991). It is used mostly for football matches, and occasionally for rugby union and rugby league matches. The stadium was renovated in 2001 and has a capacity to hold 27,223 people. Chele Arena
Chele Arena is a multi-use stadium in Kobuleti, Georgia. Built in 1967, it is used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of FC Shukura Kobuleti. FC Dinamo Batumi also used it until 2020. The stadium is able to hold 6,000 people. Kobuleti ( ka, ქობულეთი ) is a town in Adjara, western Georgia, situated on the eastern coast of the Black Sea. Bolnisi ( ka, ბოლნისი, az, Qəmərli), is a city in the country of Georgia, located in the Kvemo Kartli region and capital of the Bolnisi district. It currently has an estimated 13,800 inhabitants. History Bolnisi was settled by 95 German colonist families from Swabia in 1818, whilst part of the Georgia Governorate of the Russian Empire. Tskaltubo ( ka, წყალტუბო in English also commonly referred to as "Tskaltubo") is a Spa town, spa resort in west-central Georgia (country), Georgia. It is the main town of the Tsqaltubo Municipality of the Imereti province. It is known for its radon-carbonate mineral water, mineral springs, whose natural temperature of enables the water to be used without preliminary heating. The resort's focus is on balneotherapy for circulatory, nervous, musculo-skeletal, gynaecological and skin diseases, but since the 1970s its repertoire has included "speleotherapy", in which the cool dust-free environment of local caves is said to benefit pulmonary diseases.
